On July 8 Beijing time, the Los Angeles Lakers officially announced the signing of forward Sandro Mamukelashvili. Previously, Shams reported that it was a 4-year, $52 million contract.

Mamukelashvili stands 2.06 meters tall and weighs 109 kg. In the 2025-26 season, he played for the Toronto Raptors, appearing in 80 regular-season games (13 starts), averaging 21.9 minutes per game, and recording career highs with 11.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists; his shooting percentage was 52.3%, and his three-point percentage was 38.9%.

He was born in New York and grew up in Tbilisi, Georgia. Last season, he scored in double figures in a total of 49 games, setting a new personal career record, including 7 games with 20+ points. Over the entire season, he scored 686 points off the bench, ranking seventh in Raptors franchise history for single-season bench scoring.
The 27-year-old player has five years of NBA experience, having played for the Bucks (2021-23), Spurs (2023-25), and Raptors (2025-26). In his senior season, he won the 2021 Big East Player of the Year award.
In the new season, Mamukelashvili will wear the Lakers' purple and gold No. 54 jersey. He also wore No. 54 while playing for the Bucks, Spurs, and Raptors.
