Curry: I truly hope LeBron joining the Warriors comes true, and I'm even more looking forward to playing golf with him.

On July 9, Beijing time, Stephen Curry wants to play golf with LeBron James. Besides that, he's also open to playing alongside LeBron on the same NBA team.

Curry appeared today at the American Century Championship golf tournament. When asked about the potential of James joining, Curry said, "Honestly,I look forward to playing golf with LeBron a lot more.We can talk about basketball collaboration later. I'm especially curious to see what LeBron looks like on the golf course as a free agent. He's put a lot of work into this sport.Of course, our whole team would be thrilled to play alongside him. I genuinely hope this can become a reality, but he deserves plenty of time to carefully weigh his decision. His golf skills have improved so quickly that I might even face a tough opponent. Wishing him all the best."

A reporter then mentioned that it's rare in professional sports for a player to spend their entire career with one team. Everyone assumes Curry will finish his career in a Warriors uniform. So what does the city of San Francisco and its fans mean to Curry?

Curry said: "The Warriors' fanbase has always been incredibly passionate. We're truly lucky to have them—not only because of the franchise's history before I arrived in 2009, but also because of all the moments we've shared over these 17 years. There's so much to be proud of in bringing this team to where it is today. Me, Draymond, Klay, KD, Andre, and so many teammates who have fought alongside us—we all understand that bond. As you just said, I'm grateful to have represented only this group of fans throughout my entire career."

Ever since James announced he wouldn't return to the Lakers, there have been constant rumors about him possibly joining the Warriors to partner with Curry.

Shams reported last month that Green declined his $27.7 million player option for next season, partly to give the team more salary-cap flexibility to pursue James. Shams added this week that the Warriors, Cavaliers, and Heat are the three top contenders to recruit LeBron. Subsequent reports indicated that the Philadelphia 76ers have also emerged as a strong candidate.

James has led both the Heat and Cavaliers to championships, and since he's a native of Ohio, returning to where his career started with the Cavaliers and finishing his career there would be a perfect storybook ending.

But the prospect of teaming up with Curry is also very appealing to him; he's previously admitted he'd love the chance to play alongside Curry. This all-time great shooter creates massive floor gravity, and even in the latter stages of his career, James could take advantage of the driving lanes created by Curry's presence to score easily.

On the Warriors' side, they clearly very much want to make this blockbuster pairing happen for the 2026-27 season.

Warriors reporter Slater revealed: "Internal sources within the Warriors admit the team's expectations of James ultimately choosing to join them aren't very high, but they will keep a roster spot open for him until he officially makes his decision."

On paper, even with James, the Warriors would still struggle to surpass the Thunder and Spurs in the West. But for all NBA fans, witnessing two legendary players who dominated an era joining forces late in their careers would be a blockbuster drama that shakes up the league.

Curry's comments today are enough to show he's very much looking forward to this collaboration.
