Official signing! Hello, Rockets! A 40-point sharpshooter joins forces with Durant.

The Rockets officially announced the signing of Bogdan Bogdanovic, with a one-year contract as previously reported.

Bogdan was born on August 18, 1992. He is 1.96m tall with a 2.10m wingspan. He was the 27th overall pick in the first round of the 2014 draft and is a fellow Serbian, like Jokic.

Last season, he played for the Clippers, appearing in only 23 games due to injury, which led to subpar form. He averaged 19.7 minutes per game, recording 7.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.2 assists, with shooting percentages of 38.8%, 34.7%, and 80% from the field, three-point, and free-throw line respectively.

Since entering the league, Bogdan has been an elite shooter. In December 2023, he made 10 three-pointers in a single game against the Nuggets, scoring 40 points. His career stats to date are as follows:

In the regular season, he averages 14 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, and 1 steal in 28 minutes per game, hitting 2.4 three-pointers per game at a 38.1% rate.

In the playoffs, he averages 12.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.1 steals in 28 minutes per game, making 2.2 three-pointers per game at a 34.5% clip.

In summary, Bogdan's addition is a great complement for the Rockets, as they were in dire need of a shooter. Their shooting performance last season was hard to watch. In the regular season, they had a three-point percentage of 36.4% (10th in the league), made 11.5 three-pointers per game (25th), and attempted 31.5 three-pointers per game (28th). In the playoffs this year, their three-point percentage was 30.2% (15th), with 10 made three-pointers per game (15th) and 33.2 attempts per game (10th).

Let's put it this way: the Rockets' games last season were not meant to be watched, but to be heard. (manual dog head)

Of course, the sound of clanking iron from the Rockets should be less loud next season. As mentioned, they successfully acquired shooter Bogdan, and starting point guard Fred VanVleet is about to return from injury. However, it's not entirely ruled out that the latter could be traded this summer...

Recently, US media outlet Kalshi Hoops revealed a trade proposal framework:

The Rockets would send VanVleet plus three unprotected first-round picks to the Pelicans in exchange for Murphy, who averaged 21.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in the regular season last season.

Speaking of which, the Rockets already have enough players in the forward positions, right? It might be better to keep VanVleet and bet on him returning to his peak, or at least wait patiently until next February to make a trade.
