37+37! Deal officially completed! Spanish striker partners with Flagg

The Mavericks traded AJ Johnson, a protected first-round pick, and two second-round picks to the Grizzlies for Santi Aldama.

NBA jersey number blogger Etienne Catalan commented that Aldama will sport No. 34 for the Mavericks, after wearing No. 7 with the Grizzlies.

Aldama, born January 10, 2001, is a Spanish power forward/center standing 2.13m tall with a 2.10m wingspan. He was selected 30th overall in the first round of the 2021 draft.

Over the past five seasons with the Grizzlies, his stats are as follows:

In the regular season, he averaged 23.4 minutes, 10.4 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game, shooting 46.3% from the field and hitting 1.4 three-pointers per game at a 34.6% clip.

In the playoffs, he averaged 22.3 minutes, 9.1 points, 5 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game, shooting 46.8% from the field and making 1.7 three-pointers per game at a 43.6% rate.

Aldama delivered two explosive 37-point performances within just three days, from December 21 to 24 last year, going 12-for-22 from three-point range (approx. 54.5%). He has strong scoring outburst potential, but consistency is an issue.

As a stretch forward, he is theoretically a good fit alongside Flagg, and fans are eager to see their chemistry.

The Grizzlies parted with Aldama to make room for 2026 third-overall pick Cameron Boozer, a 2.03m-tall forward with a 2.14m wingspan who is about to turn 19.

Boozer, who hasn't played a single official NBA game, is already regarded as the new face of the Grizzlies. He recently appeared in two Summer League games, averaging 16.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4 assists in 25.6 minutes per game, shooting 65% from the field, hitting 2.5 three-pointers per game at 62.5%, and shooting 66.7% from the free-throw line.

Boozer is very confident in himself, believing that future generations will regret not making him the No. 1 pick of the 2026 draft.

Drafted ahead of Boozer were AJ Dybantsa (No. 1, Wizards) and Darin Peterson (No. 2, Jazz). Peterson's performance in this year's NBA Summer League averaged 26.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block per game, with shooting splits of 52.8%, 43.8%, and 83.3%.

As for AJ, his Summer League games haven't started yet, but the pressure is mounting...
