Curry discusses joining forces with LeBron again! Reveals Warriors' recruitment details: The entire league is waiting for his decision

According to ESPN on July 10, the Warriors' management is going all out to sign unrestricted free agent LeBron James. Team cornerstone Stephen Curry acknowledged that the prospect of joining forces with his longtime adversary to form a legendary Hall of Fame combination in the twilight of their careers is genuinely attractive.

"Two or three years ago, this was nothing more than a pipe dream—nobody even considered it," Curry remarked. "But the sheer possibility is what draws you in. He's about to start his 24th season, while I'm entering my 18th,and we've battled each other for years. If we were to team up, it would become a story unlike any other in the NBA—and perhaps in all of sports history. But it's still too early to discuss this right now."

This weekend, Curry was spotted at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course in Nevada, competing in the American Century Championship alongside a host of sports stars and celebrities. He's also one of the favorites to win, having taken the title in 2023. On Thursday afternoon, Curry attended a pre-tournament media session, where reporters fired off questions about the Warriors' pursuit of James.

When asked whether the two had communicated recently, Curry joked, "Don't pry into my personal messages."

League sources confirmed that Curry and James did exchange messages last week, mostly via text. Curry's longtime teammate Draymond Green is currently vacationing with James in Puerto Rico, and the two were even spotted at a golf course together on Thursday afternoon.

At the start of free agency, the Warriors held some hope of signing James, while also acknowledging that the Cleveland Cavaliers would be the toughest team to compete against for his services.

However, the Warriors have distinct advantages: James shares mutual respect and close friendships with both Curry and Green; the combination of Curry, Green, and head coach Steve Kerr creates a veteran-friendly, low-pressure environment. Kerr also coached both Curry and James during the 2024 Olympics.

Curry said, "I can't put a percentage on it—the choice is entirely his. Once he makes it clear which team he wants, that team will do everything to make it happen."

In theory, the Warriors could use draft picks to make trades and strengthen the roster, thereby improving their leverage in recruiting James. However, team insiders indicated that before James decides on his next destination, the Warriors will keep a roster spot open and maintain some salary cap flexibility, waiting for his decision.

Curry shared his pitch: "Our message is simple: Do you want to play high-quality basketball alongside teammates who know the game? We want to raise our floor and competitiveness next season. The Bay Area also has great golf courses. Our team has a championship pedigree—he knows all that. The logic is obvious. Ultimately, it comes down to where he feels most comfortable, and the decision is his."

If James ultimately declines to join the Warriors, the team will likely keep its current veteran core intact and run it back for another season. This offseason, the Warriors re-signed Kristaps Porziņģis, Al Horford, and De'Anthony Melton; Green opted out of his player option to create temporary salary cap space for the James pursuit, and the team is expected to re-sign him afterward.

Reporter's question: If the roster stays as is and James doesn't come, can Curry accept that?

Curry responded: "It's hard to say right now—that's the uncertainty of free agency. The whole league is waiting for LeBron to make his choice. It's great to bring back Porziņģis and Melton. Right now, we're in a unique situation: Jimmy Butler and Moses Moody are both dealing with injuries and will miss a significant number of regular-season games. We have to hold the fort until they return healthy. We know what this team is capable of when fully healthy."

The Warriors completed a signing today, inking backup center Charles Bassey to a one-year contract. After reserve big man Post joined the Grizzlies, the team needed an energetic young center to share regular-season minutes, and Bassey fills that gap perfectly.

Bassey occupies the 11th roster spot. League sources say that Green's subsequent signing will take the 12th spot; meanwhile, both sides are interested in bringing Gary Payton II back to the Warriors.
