A major four-team, nine-player trade has been officially announced! LaMelo Ball joins the Timberwolves, Julius Randle heads to the Nets, and Naz Reid goes to the Hornets.

On July 11, Beijing time, the Timberwolves, Hornets, Nets, and Bulls officially announced the blockbuster four-team trade in which LaMelo Ball goes to Minnesota and Julius Randle goes to Brooklyn. The complete list of trade assets is as follows:

Timberwolves receive: LaMelo Ball, Josh Green, and the draft rights to Isaiah Evans (33rd pick, from the Nets).

Hornets receive: Naz Reid, Mouhamadou Gueye, the draft rights to Matteo Spagnolo, a 2033 first-round pick from Minnesota, a 2029 second-round pick from Minnesota, a 2032 second-round pick from Minnesota, a 2033 second-round pick from Minnesota, the right to swap 2028 first-round picks with Minnesota, the right to swap 2029 first-round picks (protected picks 6-30), and the right to swap 2030 first-round picks with Minnesota.

Nets receive: Julius Randle and the draft rights to Joshua Jefferson (28th pick, from the Timberwolves).

Bulls receive: Nic Claxton.

One asset in this four-team trade had never been previously reported: the Hornets obtained the draft rights to Matteo Spagnolo. The 1.98-meter-tall Italian guard was selected by the Timberwolves with the 50th overall pick in 2022. The 23-year-old played last season for Valencia Club, which had a poor performance in the 2025-26 EuroLeague but won the Spanish top domestic league (Liga Endesa) championship.

There was also a minor adjustment in the trade to ensure all four teams were directly involved in the asset flow: originally Gueye was planned to be sent from the Bulls to the Timberwolves, but was ultimately redirected straight to the Hornets. The 28-year-old player's contract is non-guaranteed, and the Hornets are unlikely to keep him in their future roster plans.

When this blockbuster trade was first reported, it consisted of two separate trade proposals. To match salary cap space, they were ultimately merged into a single four-team trade. Due to trade freeze restrictions, the deal could not be finalized until July 10 at the earliest—Gueye signed with the Bulls on April 10, and there is a three-month trade moratorium after signing.
