Bombshell signing! Wembanyama, incredible! From $300 million down to $250 million

Congratulations, congratulations.

Wembanyama and the Spurs have agreed to a five-year, $252 million early contract extension, with the details as follows:

2027-28 season, $43.5 million;

2028-29 season, $46.98 million;

2029-30 season, $50.46 million;

2030-31 season, $53.94 million;

2031-32 season, $57.42 million (player option).

It is worth noting that Wembanyama could have received a five-year, $303 million supermax contract, but he chose to take a pay cut to $252 million over five years to give the Spurs more flexibility to build a championship contender around him, giving up roughly $50 million.

Loyal and selfless, truly noble.

Born on January 4, 2004, Wembanyama stands 7'4" with a wingspan of 8'0". As the No. 1 pick in the 2023 draft, he is a generational talent who has already become the new face of the NBA.

In his third season last year, this guy already displayed unparalleled dominance, with the following stats:

Regular season averages of 29.2 minutes per game, 25 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1 steal, 3.1 blocks, shooting 51.2% from the field and 34.9% from three, earning the Defensive Player of the Year award among other honors; playoff averages of 34.1 minutes per game, 23.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1 steal, 3.5 blocks, shooting 48.5% and 34.2%, leading the team to the NBA Finals.

In this year's Finals, the Spurs lost to the Knicks 4-1 and missed out on the championship, but that doesn't mean failure—they are still very young with great potential. Wembanyama is 22, Castle is 21, and Harper is 20; they have plenty of time to reach the top...

If there is anything "unappealing" about the current Spurs, it's Fox's max contract. As the starting point guard, he averaged 12.8 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 1.4 steals in this year's Finals, shooting 34.3%, 25%, and 90% from the field, three-point line, and free-throw line, respectively. The four-year, $228.6 million contract he signed last summer is about to kick in.

Of course, the Spurs could trade Fox, but they need to find a team willing to take on his deal—otherwise, they'll be stuck with it. Good luck.
