Awesome! A slam dunk by the No. 10 pick in the first round! Yang Hansen proves the critics of Chinese basketball wrong.

Orchestrating the offense from the high post, his teammate easily hits a three-pointer.

Ignoring tight defense from the same draft class's No. 10 pick, he drives from the high post and finishes with a powerful left-handed dunk.

Again, he attacks from beyond the arc, using rhythm to score.

After a pick-and-pop, he catches and fires a three from the top of the key.

Yang Hansen made his NBA Summer League debut, starting and playing 26 minutes. He shot 5-for-10 from the field, including 3-for-6 from three, contributing 12 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 turnovers, with a plus-minus of +6. His counterpart, Maluach, also played 26 minutes, shooting 7-for-15 from the field (3-for-7 from three) for 19 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 turnovers.

Unfortunately, the Trail Blazers lost 81-79 to the Suns. While Summer League results don't matter much, nobody likes to lose.

To be fair, judging by the game, the Trail Blazers' Summer League coaching staff seems to have a better understanding of how to use Yang Hansen than the Chinese men's basketball coaching staff led by Guo Shiqiang. As a result, Yang looked like a modern center on the NBA stage, rather than being forced to battle in the paint as he did during the World Cup qualifiers, which failed to maximize his value.

In the two recent World Cup qualifiers, Yang Hansen served as the primary backup center to Hu Jinqiu, playing a combined 30 minutes. He shot 7-for-14 from the field (0-for-1 from three) for 19 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks—a typical blue-collar big man stat line, with playing time and role far below expectations.

As for the first window of the second phase of the World Cup qualifiers in late August, where China will face Qatar and Lebanon, Yang plans to participate. After the Summer League, he will continue individual training. In short, he will be very busy this summer, trying to improve quickly through extensive games and practice.

Next season will be Yang Hansen's second year in the NBA, but the competition will be even tougher than his rookie season. Apart from him, the Trail Blazers' center position includes Clingan, Williams, Carlson, and Micah Porter—the latter two being experienced stretch big men.
