$64 million over 4 years! Trent Jr. re-signs with Bucks, once scored 36 points with 9 threes in a single game last season

On July 12, Beijing time, per Shams' report, free agent guard Gary Trent Jr. finalized a four-year, $64 million deal to remain with the Milwaukee Bucks.

Gary Trent Jr. stands 1.96 meters tall and weighs 93 kilograms, playing as a shooting guard. He is the son of former NBA player Gary Trent. Selected with the 37th overall pick in the second round of the 2018 NBA Draft, he entered the league and is represented by Klutch Sports' Rich Paul agency.

In high school, he attended Prolific Prep in California, earning Gatorade State Player of the Year honors. He also won gold medals with Team USA at the U16 Americas Championship and the U17 World Cup. He played only one season at Duke University, showcasing strong three-point shooting talent before declaring early for the NBA draft. Drafted by the Kings, he was immediately traded to the Trail Blazers, where he spent his first three years, often being sent to the G League to refine his physicality and shooting consistency.

In 2021, he joined the Toronto Raptors, experiencing the peak of his career. During the 2021-22 season, he averaged 18.3 points per game with a 38.3% three-point percentage. His core strengths are off-ball shooting and catch-and-shoot jumpers, excelling in spot-up threes off screens, and maintaining composure in clutch moments. While with the Raptors, he signed a three-year, $54 million extension. He can guard all types of scorers at his position, has excellent steal instincts, and is a quality 3-and-D wing. His weaknesses include limited ability to create his own shot off the dribble, average burst on drives, and insufficient playmaking in half-court sets.

In 2024, he moved to the Bucks, wearing jersey number 5. Last regular season, he averaged 8.1 points per game, but once scored a season-high 36 points, hitting 9 of 15 three-pointers in that game. Trent Jr. has a career average of 13 points per game with a 38.7% three-point percentage, making him a reliable spot-up shooter on the perimeter. He can help space the floor and provide defensive toughness, offering consistent outside firepower for the Bucks' playoff push and filling the team's rotation need for three-point shooting.
