A Chinese basketball team has invited LeBron James to join, citing three reasons, while James is still considering his next destination.

Noted reporter Shams reiterated today that the Cavaliers, Heat, and 76ers are the three teams most actively pursuing James. Teams such as the Warriors, Nuggets, and Timberwolves are not as strong contenders. Of these six teams, only the Heat can provide roughly $7 million in salary; the others can only offer James a veteran minimum deal.

For the Cavaliers, James Harden's opt-out and extension will affect whether they offer James a $3.9 million minimum or a $6.1 million partial mid-level exception. If the Cavs trade Strus or Schroder, they could also provide James with a contract worth over $6.1 million.

For the Warriors, if they trade Moody and Draymond Green takes a pay cut, they could offer James around $6 million.

The Heat can directly sign James using their $7 million partial mid-level exception.

The Timberwolves, Nuggets, and 76ers can only offer James a $3.9 million veteran minimum.

A championship ring is not the only factor for James. His agent, Rich Paul, stated yesterday that this time, no one's opinion on James' next move matters.

"This situation is different, really different. This time, what others think or say doesn't matter at all. We don't care about commentators' guesses or opinions. Even if he joins the 1996 Bulls, I wouldn't mind. He can do whatever he wants—this choice is something he earned."

He also said, "LeBron isn't chasing a championship ring this time. But when you've put in this much effort, put yourself in this position, and truly have the power to decide what you want to do, who wouldn't make the most of it?"

In other words, enjoying playing basketball is the most important thing; winning a title would just be icing on the cake.

On July 12, 2014—12 years ago today—James announced his return to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Who would have thought that 12 years later, James would still be a superstar at the top of the league, with his next team choice being the biggest story of the NBA offseason?

James' close friend Dwyane Wade recently said on a show that it's hard for James to retire directly because he still maintains elite-level performance: "I'm just here to appreciate what I'm witnessing, because we've never seen anything like this before. To be playing at such a high level at this stage of his career—it definitely makes the decision tough."

"Like, if I could still play now but wouldn't be that good, it'd be easy for me to walk away. But when you're still damn good, it's hard to make that call. When you're still the GOAT, how do you walk away from being the GOAT?"

What a good friend—he just praised James again.

Famous rapper DaBaby said he would follow James anywhere: "I'm not playing about LeBron James. Wherever he goes, I go. If he goes to play in Russia, I'll try to learn Russian!"

James updated his social media today, and his outfit, expression, and photo angle are almost identical to yesterday's, as if to say: "Guess away."

Finally, regarding the Chinese NBL team Guizhou猛龙 (Guizhou Rhinos) inviting James to join—they posted a Chinese invitation on their social media (which James can't read), sincerely inviting him.

The reasons are:

  1. The NBL is only one letter away from the NBA.
  2. Guizhou's beautiful mountains and clear waters are suitable for James to retire in comfort.
  3. James could form a "Big N" (whatever number) with any teammate.

These three reasons make it easy for James to decline.Yet another prank, riding on James' popularity. Let's just take it as a joke and have a laugh. If James really came to play in China, we'd be the first in line to buy tickets and support him, right?
