As reported by ESPN on July 15, league insiders revealed that LeBron James' free agency choice is now in its second week, and the Philadelphia 76ers continue their aggressive campaign, deploying three star players to personally recruit the four-time NBA champion.

Sources told ESPN that Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and Jaylen Brown have all communicated with James, with Maxey serving as the lead recruiter.
The 25-year-old Maxey, also a client of Klutch Sports Group, has trained alongside James during multiple offseasons. He has long referred to the 41-year-old superstar as his "big brother."
2022-23 MVP Embiid teamed up with James on the U.S. national team for the 2024 Paris Olympics, winning a gold medal. Jaylen Brown, during his time with the Celtics, faced James’ Cavaliers multiple times in the playoffs. In February, James publicly supported Brown for MVP.
"He's playing incredible basketball," James said at the time. "When it comes to MVP talks, I don't understand why he's rarely mentioned. Nobody expected much from his team before the season."
In the Lakers' 112-108 win over the 76ers last December, James scored 29 points, including 12 in the fourth quarter on 6-of-5 shooting, mostly jumpers. After the game, he praised the Philadelphia fans.
"You know how Philly fans are: they only respect their own team, and I respect that," James said. "I've been in the league for 23 years, played here many times when I was in the East. Getting recognition from this city—no matter how the crowd reacts, as long as I step on the court and play the game I love, earning their respect—that's really special."
According to Shams, the 76ers remain one of the top candidates for James, competing alongside the Cavaliers and the Miami Heat.

Bob Myers, president of the 76ers' parent company Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, recently appeared on the podcast "GameOver," hosted by James' agent and Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, along with Max Kellerman. Myers used the opportunity to pitch Philadelphia as James' next destination.
"If he were sitting in front of me, I'd say: Honestly, I believe this is your best chance to win a championship. As for other equally important factors, you'll have to weigh them yourself," Myers said. "I think if your goal is to win, then we can have a serious conversation about this team. You absolutely have a chance to win a title in Philadelphia."
76ers basketball operations president Mike Gansey echoed Myers' sentiments. Gansey worked in the Cavaliers' front office during James' second stint in Cleveland and had faced him on the court in Ohio since their high school days.
"We started talking to Rich (Paul) as soon as we traded for Jaylen Brown," Gansey told The Athletic. "LeBron and his team have kept a low profile, and there's a lot of speculation about his next move. But honestly, we really want to sign him. I have immense respect for him—in my eyes, he's the greatest player of all time."
James will head to New York this week for a series of public events. On Thursday, he will appear at the Fanatics Fan Fest at the Javits Center, participating in two activities: the "Blueprint of the Game" business and sports summit co-hosted by The Boardroom's Rich Kleiman and CNBC, and a recording of the podcast "Mind the Game" with Pacers guard Tyrese Haliburton as the guest.
On Thursday evening, James will attend the Time 100 Gala, where he will be honored as the magazine's "Athlete of the Century." On Friday, he will return to the Fanatics Fan Fest to film the barbershop talk show "The Shop," with tennis legend Novak Djokovic as a guest, alongside Maverick Carter, Travis Bennett, and Stilo Brimm. James could announce his decision during any of these events.
