3-for-1! Pistons' first trade player! Reportedly clashed with coaching staff in playoffs

The league's top villain, living up to his reputation.

Recently, TA Pistons beat reporter Hunter Patterson wrote that the Pistons traded Stewart to the Grizzlies for three second-round picks not only to maintain salary cap flexibility but also because the guy had multiple intense conflicts with the coaching staff during this year's playoffs.

In Game 3 of the first round of this year's playoffs, Stewart had a verbal altercation with Pistons head coach Bickerstaff; in Game 7 of the second round, after being substituted, Stewart refused to high-five Bickerstaff, and even assistant coach Luke Walton's intervention was futile. Another assistant coach, Jarrett Jack, stepped in to trade barbs with him...

A troublemaker among troublemakers, a veritable locker room time bomb — no wonder Stewart was the first player the Pistons traded this offseason.

The Motor City came back to life in the 25-26 season, finishing first in the East with a 60-22 regular-season record. However, their playoff performance was somewhat disappointing: they barely got past the Magic in seven games in the first round, then were eliminated by the Cavaliers in the second round, perhaps due to the tense atmosphere within the team as mentioned above.

As for Stewart, he had been with the Pistons until being traded. His career stats to date are as follows:

Played 365 regular-season games, starting 194 of them, averaging 24.3 minutes, 8.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 1.2 blocks, shooting 51.4% from the field.

Played 15 playoff games, all off the bench, averaging 12.3 minutes, 3.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks, shooting 58.3% from the field.

This 2020 first-round 16th pick, born on May 22, 2001, stands 2.03m tall with a 2.25m wingspan. He was once named Defensive Player of the Month. His current contract runs through summer 2028, with a total salary of $30 million over the next two seasons. Now wearing the Grizzlies jersey, he will play the role of bodyguard for the new No. 3 pick, Boozer.

To be honest, Stewart's looks, build, and temper make him seem more and more like the ancient warrior Zhang Fei. (Manually adding a dog head emoji.)
