Trade news! The 2026 top pick is being transferred! Latest world ranking of Chinese men's basketball

Let's talk about Chinese basketball.

A well-known domestic media platform reports:The Sichuan team is about to trade the 2026 top pick to the Guangzhou team, which will not only bring a high transfer fee but also involve two young interior players and this year's 9th pick.

As is well known, Sichuan is facing a serious financial crisis and needs cash urgently, while Guangzhou has been pursuing a younger lineup in recent years. Both sides can be said to get what they need.

It is worth mentioning that according to previous sources, Guangzhou has decided not to renew the contract of 32-year-old Guo Ailun, who suffered a left knee anterior cruciate ligament tear in March this year. The guy only played a total of 19 games in two seasons.

As for the national team, the schedule of warm-up matches for the first window of the second stage of the World Cup qualifiers (against Qatar on August 27 and against Lebanon on August 31) has been announced, as follows:

August 13, vs. Uruguay men's basketball;

August 15, vs. Uruguay men's basketball;

August 17, vs. New Zealand men's basketball.

Barring any surprises, after finishing his personal training in Los Angeles, Yang Hanshen will return to China to represent the Chinese men's basketball team in the aforementioned tournaments. In the past two World Cup qualifier games, he played as a backup center, contributing a total of 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 assists in about 30 minutes. Guo Shiqiang has not yet fully figured out how to use him.

In fact, the Chinese men's basketball coaching staff might refer to how the Trail Blazers used Yang Hanshen in the Summer League. Giving him enough trust and ball possession can fully unleash his value, while also surrounding him with teammates who are good at cutting. In an average of 24.3 minutes per game, he put up 13 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.5 blocks, with shooting percentages of 56.8% and 44.4%.

By the way, FIBA recently released the latest world rankings,the top three are the United States, Germany, and Serbia. As for the Chinese men's basketball team, they dropped four spots to 30th place, currently ranked fifth in the Asia-Pacific region, behind Australia (7), Japan (22), New Zealand (25), and Iran (26).

The teams that advanced to the second stage of the World Cup qualifiers are divided into two groups: Group E and Group F. Except for the host Qatar, the top three in each group and the best fourth-place team among groups will earn tickets to the 2027 World Cup finals.
