The Timberwolves are a big plus! The NBA announced that Edwards was withdrawn from the technical foul and he could participate in the regular season finale

On April 13, Beijing time, the NBA officially announced that it would cancel the technical foul on Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards in the second quarter of Saturday's game. For the Timberwolves, this is undoubtedly a big plus.

This decision is significant. The technical foul was Edwards' 18th technical foul of the season, and if not cancelled, he would have been automatically suspended for one game and would miss Monday's regular-season finale.

According to NBA rules, a player who accumulates 16 technical fouls during the regular season will be suspended for one game; Once this threshold is reached, an additional suspension will be added for each additional technical foul accumulated.

As a result of the NBA's decision, Edwards' technical foul count this season will revert to 17 and he will be able to play in Monday's game against the Utah Jazz. The Timberwolves must win this game to secure a playoff spot (i.e., a top-six finish). NBA officials also listed 16 standings changes on the final day, with the Timberwolves all likely to go from 4th to 8th.

Previously, Bill Kennedy, the head referee of the refereeing team, said after the game that Edwards was whistled for a technical foul for swearing at the referee.

Edwards told reporters after the game that he was saying "where the damn foul is," and the Timberwolves also noted that both Edwards and the team's head coach Chris Finch didn't think the phrase should be whistled for a technical foul. After a review by the Alliance, they agreed with their views.

This season, Huazi has lost $560,000 to fines and suspensions.A player's technical foul count will be reset to zero in the playoffs, so if the Timberwolves get a playoff spot, Edwards won't be at risk of another suspension anytime soon. In the playoffs, he needs to accumulate seven technical fouls before he is suspended.
