In the first quarter, the Pacers started on a hot start, hitting all nine of their first nine shots. Nembhard, Turner, Haliburton hit back-to-back hits. The Knicks were also in good shape, with Bridges scoring on a layup, Brunson hitting a mid-range shot and Towns also making a three-pointer. Turner scored consecutive points with a mid-range shot and dunk, and the difference came to 7 points. McBride and Hart hit three-pointers in a row, Miro dunked in the air, and the Knicks overtook their opponents 14-5. At the end of the first quarter, the Knicks led the Pacers 36-34. The Pacers shot 73.7 percent from the field in the first quarter, and the Knicks also shot 65.2 percent.
In the second quarter, Mathurin scored 2+1, McConnell scored 4 points in a row, Siakam made a layup, and the Pacers overtook the Knicks by 4 points.
