A torn meniscus! Arenas' son is expected to miss the upcoming season after previously escaping a serious car accident.

On July 24, Beijing time, according to renowned reporter Haynes, sources from the league revealed that freshman Aliyah Arenas from the University of Southern California has suffered a torn meniscus, facing the risk of missing the entire 2025-26 college basketball season. He is the son of former NBA star Arenas, who narrowly escaped a severe car accident in April of this year, only to now encounter this serious injury.

In a car accident in April, Aliyah Arenas nearly lost his life. At the time, he was driving back from the gym when his Tesla Cybertruck went "out of control" in the Reseda area of the San Fernando Valley. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the vehicle crashed into a tree and a fire hydrant. Video obtained by TMZ showed that the front of Aliyah Arenas' car caught fire after the accident, with two people trying to rescue him from the vehicle as the damaged hydrant sprayed water outward.

He was quickly transported to the hospital, where he fell into an induced coma due to smoke inhalation. Later, he emerged from the coma, and fortunately, he did not suffer any "serious injuries" from the accident. He was discharged from the hospital in less than a week.

Arenas' son is extremely talented on the basketball court and has trained with Durant. He is expected to participate in the 2026 draft, and prior to suffering the torn meniscus, his predicted draft position was 5th overall in the first round; this injury may significantly impact his draft prospects.

Throughout his high school career, Alijah Arenas averaged nearly 31 points per game, along with 7.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
