On July 26, 2025, the CBA Draft was held in Qingdao, where Yang Xihao from Tsinghua University was selected by the Fujian Sturgeons with the first overall pick. The second pick was Du Zhibo from Taiyuan University of Technology, who was chosen by the Sichuan Blue Whales, and Guangxi Weizhuang player Pang Zhenglin was taken by the Jiangsu Dragons with the third pick.
Yang Xihao was born in March 2002, stands 2.05 meters tall, and is referred to as "Little Zhou Qi" from Tsinghua University, where he is a prominent player on the men's basketball team. He attended Tsinghua Affiliated High School, where he was one of the "Seven Tigers" and led his team to win the championship in 2020.Nike's China High School Basketball League championship. During his college years, he represented student athletes in the CBA All-Star Game three times. In 2023, Yang Xihao and his former teammate Wang Lanqi represented China’s university students at the Chengdu Universiade. In the 2025 season, he averaged21.8 minutes per game in CUBAL, contributing 12.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 1.6 blocks.
The second pick, Du Zhibo, comes from Taiyuan University of Technology, averaging 24.7 minutes per game in the 2024-2025 season, contributing 16.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 1.6 steals, making him the best swingman in CUBAL currently. Third pick Pang Zhenglin is a three-time champion in NBL, known for his sharp driving skills and outstanding scoring and assisting abilities, earning him the title of Guangxi's basketball king. The selection of these three players is indeed well-deserved.
