The specifics of the agreement were not disclosed, but this decision prolongs the 37-year-old American's tenure with the team after he served as an assistant coach from 2019 to 2022.
He took over as head coach in September 2022 when Ime Udoka was suspended for breaching team policy just days before the start of the training camp for the 2022-23 season.
"This is genuinely a wonderful opportunity," Mazzulla stated. "I am thankful for the players I have had the privilege to coach over the past three seasons. I am eager to compete for the Celtics and the city of Boston."
During Mazzulla's inaugural season, the Celtics achieved a record of 57-25 but were defeated by Miami in the Eastern Conference finals. The following season, Boston finished with a 64-18 record and triumphed over Dallas in the NBA Finals, making Mazzulla the youngest head coach to win an NBA championship since Bill Russell in 1969.
Last season, Boston recorded a 61-21 record, securing the second seed in the East, but fell to New York in the second round of the playoffs.

Mazzulla's overall coaching record stands at 182-64, along with a playoff record of 33-17.
