False alarm! Doncic cleared to return to the court against the UK team after previously withdrawing due to a knee contusion.

On August 19 Beijing time, Lakers star Luka Doncic received clearance to return to action after a worrying injury incident over the weekend.

Earlier, in a warm-up game between Slovenia and Latvia, Doncic left the court hobbling, but he will be available for Slovenia’s next friendly against the UK. The Slovenian Basketball Federation has officially confirmed his eligibility to play.

Throughout his career, Doncic has struggled with injuries, and concerns about his fitness were part of the reason the Mavericks surprisingly traded him to the Lakers in February. During the offseason, Doncic worked hard to improve his physical condition, including representing Slovenia at the EuroBasket this summer.

In the match against Latvia, a teammate collided with Doncic’s leg, causing him to fall to the floor. Doncic signaled to be substituted and limped toward the locker room. After the game, it was confirmed that his injury was minor and diagnosed as a knee contusion.

After slimming down, Doncic has performed impressively in EuroBasket warm-ups, scoring 19 points against Germany and putting up 26 points in the first half before his injury versus Latvia.

Doncic’s return to the court should be a relief for Lakers fans, who certainly don’t want to see the team’s future cornerstone suffer a major injury in a preparatory match.

The five-week EuroBasket tournament officially kicks off on August 27. Slovenia is placed in Group C alongside Iceland, France, Poland, Belgium, and Israel. Their opening game will be against Poland.
