21 points in the first half! Doncic posts 28+6+10 to end four-game losing streak; next warm-up game to face Jokic

On August 20 Beijing time, with Lakers superstar Luka Doncic at the helm, Slovenia’s national squad claimed their first win in the 2025 EuroBasket warm-up series. They triumphed 93-81 over Great Britain at their home court, Stozice Arena.

Last game against Latvia, Doncic suffered a right knee bruise and exited early, but luckily it was nothing serious. He suited up again for his team tonight, further demonstrating why he’s seen as one of the NBA’s top talents. Doncic scored 21 points in the first half alone and finished just four rebounds shy of a triple-double: in 28 minutes, he tallied 28 points (5-of-6 on twos, 2-of-11 from three, and 12-of-14 free throws), 6 rebounds, 10 assists, 3 steals, 1 block, and 4 turnovers.

Gregor Hrovat added 15 points for Slovenia, while Klemen Prepelic contributed 12. Five players from the British team scored in double figures.

Early in the second quarter, Slovenia went on a 13-2 scoring run to build a 16-point lead (40-24) and never allowed the British side a chance to rally.

Slovenia now holds a 1-4 record in their warm-up matches, with this win snapping a four-game losing streak. Previously, they lost consecutively to Germany (89-103 and 70-80), Lithuania (72-94), and Latvia (88-100).

Before the official EuroBasket tournament begins on August 27, Slovenia will play their final warm-up away game against Serbia, led by Nikola Jokic. If both Doncic and Jokic take the court, it will be a highly anticipated superstar showdown.

Previously, the Serbian Basketball Federation president stated that, if possible, a game featuring Jokic versus Doncic could sell 100,000 tickets: “Of course, there are even more tickets, but everything must be handled very carefully. If we have the opportunity to sell 100,000, we will sell 100,000 tickets.”

In the 2025 EuroBasket, Slovenia will be placed in Group D, with all group matches held in Katowice, Poland. Their group opponents include host Poland, France, Iceland, Israel, and Belgium.
