This is truly a game that never disappoints! The World of Tanks 2.1.1 update brings the rocket tank destroyer PTZ-78!

If any military game has “never shortchanged” the Chinese branch, it must be World of Tanks. From the original Type 59 powerhouse, to the consistent availability of high-penetration gold ammo on silver-heavy tanks, mediums, and tank destroyers, and then the emergence of the BZ-79 in version 2.0, the Chinese line has always maintained solid performance.

The WZ113G, with T1-level strength

In the 2.1.1 update released today, WG continues to impress by delivering another “never shortchanged” masterpiece: the PTZ-78. This vehicle is the successor to the WZ113G, with comprehensive performance upgrades. Considering the strong showing of the “Fathead Fish,” you can imagine just how powerful it is!

The first major surprise of the PTZ-78 is its significantly improved armor. Compared to the WZ113G, which still requires cautious play on the frontline, the PTZ-78 can confidently hold the line without feeling inferior to other heavy tanks of the same tier.

During frontline engagements, the only weak spot on the PTZ-78 is its gun mantlet, equivalent to about 340mm armor. Other areas can only be penetrated by high-penetration rounds, and the turret front is shielded by observation equipment, making it highly resistant to HEAT rounds. The only option is to try to penetrate it with kinetic rounds.

In terms of firepower, the PTZ-78 is a clear upgrade over the WZ113G. Its base damage has increased to 770, and both its silver and gold ammo penetration have improved. Accuracy and aiming time have also been enhanced. Its gun dispersion values are 0.06/0.17/0.17, slightly better than the “Fathead Fish.”

Regarding mobility, both tanks are similar. However, the PTZ-78 has a rocket skill that boosts turning speed by 30%, which is very useful for maneuvering through narrow alleys or close combat. This rocket skill is cleverly designed, even allowing the engine to shut off while reversing.

While the PTZ-78 shines in tier 11 battles, other new tanks should not be underestimated. For example, the Russian STK-2 boasts explosive DPM, more flexible mechanics, and exceptional accuracy, making it highly competitive.

With full upgrades, the STK-2’s DPM easily reaches nearly 3800, and its accuracy with the gun cooled is 0.19, significantly better than the Type 5 Concept. Its mechanics have been optimized to introduce a special “middle ground” that balances DPM and accuracy through a combination of autoloading and gun cooling.

Another newcomer, the ARES-90C, also shows strong potential. Its automatic cannon is a “leg-breaking” weapon that balances single-shot damage, module damage, and has a high rate of fire, making it a ruthless hunter of tracks and wheels.

Besides these fresh faces, a batch of older tier 11 tanks also received buffs and adjustments today. Many of these improvements focus on raising the minimum performance to ensure commanders can deal as much damage as possible.

For instance, the German “Stag Beetle” has improved single-shot damage and reload time; the Leopard 120 got better fire control and gold round velocity; the AS-XX 40t saw enhancements in silver round velocity and fire control; and the CS-67S received overall boosts in mobility and firepower.

Meanwhile, the Strv 107-12 and 432 Engineer U had their skills improved: the former shortened the Fortress mode switching time, encouraging bold play; the latter increased skill charge time for greater combat flexibility.

Overall, the World of Tanks 2.1.1 update released today has brought plenty of excitement to commanders. The powerful PTZ-78 proves its outstanding strength, other new tanks are impressive, and the balance changes to older vehicles are well executed. We can look forward to even more thrilling battles in this version!
