Hello everyone, I’m Game Xiao Di.

It’s been a while since the new Bian Que was released in Season 44. With his brand new resurrection mechanic, crowd control skills, and execute ultimate, Bian Que’s win rate across all ranks has returned to a decent level, and his previously low pick rate has also seen significant improvement. However, Xiao Di has noticed that many players are struggling with team compositions for the new Bian Que, unsure which heroes to pair him with. In this guide, let’s briefly discuss which team setups truly suit the new Bian Que—let’s take a look together!

What is the core playstyle of the new Bian Que?

To figure out which team compositions suit him, we first need to understand the new Bian Que’s role. After his rework, he is no longer a mage who relies on stacking poison for sustained damage. His passive now has a new "Resurrection" mechanic, allowing him to revive fallen teammates, with up to 3 charges stored. His second skill gains a knock-up crowd control effect and can synergize with his first skill for increased damage and range. His ultimate now has an execute judgment, enabling him to directly finish off enemies under certain conditions.

Thus, the core playstyle of the new Bian Que revolves around using his first and second skills to initiate with a knock-up, continuously stacking poison, then unleashing the execute ultimate for burst damage. His passive is kept as a safety net to revive key teammates. So what does Bian Que fear most? He fears teammates engaging too deep without him keeping up, too few frontliners to absorb damage, and a team composition that cannot sustain prolonged fights. From these perspectives, we can easily identify heroes that are well-suited for the new Bian Que.

Which heroes are a perfect match for Bian Que?

When it comes to synergy, Xiao Di’s first thought is Sun Bin. Sun Bin’s second skill speed boost helps Bian Que keep up with the team tempo, easily solving his mobility issues. Moreover, Sun Bin’s ultimate silence can combine with Bian Que’s second skill knock-up to create a chain of crowd control. More importantly, Sun Bin’s healing-over-time mechanic, together with Bian Que’s passive resurrection, provides a dual safety net for key heroes. If Sun Bin’s time-reversal heal fails to save someone, Bian Que can still revive them. This makes the duo’s team fight margin for error in the mid-to-late game incredibly high.

In addition, Bai Qi is also an excellent partner for Bian Que. Bai Qi’s ultimate taunt locks enemy heroes in place for a period, perfectly allowing Bian Que’s poison and execute ultimate to deal maximum damage. The more concentrated the enemies are after Bai Qi’s ultimate and second skill pull, the higher Bian Que’s ultimate payoff. Furthermore, Bai Qi is naturally tanky—he can soak damage at the front line, giving Bian Que room to deal damage, and Bian Que’s mark healing also benefits him greatly. The classic "Sun Bin, Bai Qi, Yang Yuhuan" combo once provided Bai Qi with considerable sustain, and now Bian Que can essentially fill Yang Yuhuan’s role.

Lastly, some might think combining Cai Wenji with Bian Que leads to excessive healing, but that’s not the case. If the enemy team has strong economic development and deals overwhelming damage, neither Cai Wenji nor Bian Que can survive alone easily. However, together they can achieve impressive results. In an even or advantageous game, the team barely loses health. Additionally, Cai Wenji’s bouncing stun can chain with Bian Que’s slows and knock-up for lockdown. The downside is that this double-healing composition becomes much less effective once the enemy builds grievous wounds items like Executioner’s Blade, Nightmare Devourer, or the Red Lotus Cloak.
