Hello everyone, I'm Xiaodi.
Recently, some friends asked Xiaodi whether the hero Shaosiyuan is really strong. Looking at the overall win rate across all segments, it's very low—almost at the bottom among supports. However, the data in peak matches is quite healthy, and it's also common in professional games. This extreme contrast makes it hard to gauge Shaosiyuan's true strength. This is indeed a typical phenomenon. In this episode, Xiaodi will discuss with everyone why Shaosiyuan is so special!

Stealing gold. Most supports have a limited source of gold, relying mainly on natural growth and support items. But Shaosiyuan is different—her skill mechanics grant her the ability to steal gold. It may not seem like much per steal, but stealing a bit from each of the five enemies adds up to a decent income. As a result, Shaosiyuan usually completes her core items faster than traditional supports. While other supports are still saving for a single major item, Shaosiyuan might already have that major item plus some small pieces. With this gear advantage, her damage and healing become very significant during mid-game team fights.
Crowd control. Actually, crowd control isn't particularly outstanding among supports, since most supports have some form of CC. However, Shaosiyuan's CC is special because it's tied to her passive ability, which is heavily linked to her basic attacks. This means her CC cooldown is relatively short, doesn't consume energy or skill charges, and also has an area knock-up effect. This makes her stand out among other supports.

Mobility. Generally, mobility isn't a trait associated with supports—it's more typical of assassins, fighters, and mages. But Shaosiyuan definitely deserves high marks for mobility. The second stages of both her first and second skills provide strong displacement capabilities. This is why many players can pull off the "Flying Yuan" effect with her, allowing her to move freely between allies and enemies. A big reason high-ranked players favor this hero is precisely this: more mobility means a higher skill ceiling and more room for impactful plays.
Healing and damage. Healing is mostly a standard feature of support heroes, like Cai Wenji, Sangqi, and Duoliya. Shaosiyuan's healing is about average, but at least she doesn't lack this capability; otherwise, she would need items like Star Spring to compensate. As for damage, it's quite impressive. While supports aren't usually expected to deal damage, Shaosiyuan's ultimate and enhanced basic attacks hit hard, combined with her gold-stealing ability that lets her gear up better, so her damage output is genuinely not low.

Looking at her skill set, Shaosiyuan indeed possesses abilities uncommon for supports. But that's precisely why she is favored by high-ranked players. Even for a support role, players at high ranks need strong awareness, mechanics, and shot-calling. Heroes with higher ceilings better showcase these qualities and help gain a bigger advantage in intense matches.

So, back to the original question: why is Shaosiyuan's data so poor across all segments? The reason is that compared to heroes like Yao, Cai Wenji, and Duoliya, she has more attributes and more complex mechanics, making it difficult for players to fully realize her potential. However, her appealing appearance still attracts many players to pick her, so naturally her win rate remains low.

That's all for now. If you enjoyed this, feel free to leave a like to show support. If you have anything else to say, ask, or want to see, leave a comment—I'll read them all!
