Hello to all LPL viewers and League of Legends summoners, this is Tianxia Game Report.
Tonight, IG encountered a match with relatively low difficulty, facing the lower-ranked FPX. Most believed IG would easily secure the win, but in their last meeting, IG was decisively beaten by FPX.
Thus, many IG fans were concerned about a potential upset, but IG completed their revenge by sweeping the opponent.
Rookie’s precise solo kill and IG’s complete dominance throughout the match.
In the first game, Rookie stood out as the best player on the field, picking Annie and executing a delicate solo kill on Kai'Sa in the bottom lane. He then led the team’s momentum, with the bottom lane ganking mid laner A Luo La. The audience exclaimed that Care was outclassed, as A Luo La made a huge mistake under multi-player pressure, using his ultimate to teleport back to the enemy and sacrificing himself.
With the advantage, IG played flawlessly, progressing steadily according to their rhythm. WEI successfully controlled the dragon, and in the mid-game team fight, IG won easily. FPX, struggling, attempted a desperate counter-engage but only ended up fueling IG’s comeback, resulting in a 0-for-4 exchange that sealed the game’s outcome.
The match ended with an astounding kill score of 23-3, and Rookie’s Annie earned the MVP award.
In the second game, it became The Shy’s personal showcase. Within just three minutes, the first blood occurred, with WEI’s Poppy in the jungle pulling off a narrow escape counter-kill.
As FPX’s most promising player, support Jwei then made a move on the top lane, landing a decisive Q on Lucian and securing a kill with his teammates. The team also successfully took control of three Rift Scuttlers.
The Shy’s strongest performance: a godlike 1v2 double solo kill.
At 15 minutes, The Shy secured a solo kill against Gwen. IG then won a mid-lane team fight. The highlight came at 16 minutes when two FPX players dove over the tower attempting to kill The Shy’s Rumble, only to be confidently countered by The Shy, who pulled off a 1v2 and took down both enemies.
GALA’s Lucian made some mistakes this game, being killed by an airplane (an enemy champion) in mid lane and then killed again by Lucian. Meanwhile, IG controlled the Dragon Soul successfully, and Rookie’s Azir made a brilliant initiation that, combined with Rumble, instantly crushed the team fight.
In the end, IG won 2-0 and achieved an important revenge.
FPX has not been so fortunate this split. Previously, FPX often surprised with underdog lineups, but this season, after losing their core player again, luck has not favored them. It seems that for many clubs, the outcome of whether they perform well or not is becoming increasingly similar.
Especially with multiple internal conflicts breaking out within FPX, which is hard to understand.
For IG, after securing this victory, they have successfully locked in a top-four spot in the LPL playoffs. Whether they can achieve a higher ranking depends on the upcoming matches.
IG is promising, with great hopes for the World Championship.
After facing FPX, IG still has two peak group matches left, against WE and BLG respectively. Given the current situation, winning at least one of these matches will secure IG a top-three position. If they lock in top three, IG will likely share the same half of the bracket with BLG, setting up the most anticipated storyline.
In my opinion, IG’s competitive form this season has been quite impressive, and based on the current situation, their chances of qualifying for Worlds are very high.
The top four teams in the peak group appear to be the four most likely to qualify for Worlds. The key factor is the distribution between the third and fourth seeds. If IG ends up as the fourth seed, they might have to compete with the LCK’s fourth seed for a Worlds spot.
As for other teams, WBG and JDG don’t seem capable of qualifying for Worlds. JDG’s performance and player form have been poor, making their chances slim. In contrast, WBG still holds some potential for an upset. Additionally, the results of the Knights’ Road and NIP might also be wildcard factors. We can watch to see if any major surprises occur in the playoffs.
