VCTCN: Jieni7 dominates with a four-kill spree, EDG defeats XLG 2-0 to advance to the losers' final

In the 2025 VCTCN Stage 2 Playoffs Losers' Bracket Semifinals, EDG defeated XLG 2-0 to move on to the losers' final.

Map 1: Lianhua Ancient City

Attacking team EDG: Weiss, Yelu, Raze, Kuro, Phantom

Defending team XLG: Zero, Kuro, Phantom, Steellock, Sage

At the start of the first half, Jieni7 and Kangkang showcased their skills, helping EDG win the pistol round. In round 3, XLG used their specialty of wall penetration to hold site A and disrupted EDG’s rotation plans on site C. During the rifle fights, nobody infiltrated site A and secured two kills, prompting XLG to save their weapons. After calling a timeout, XLG quickly scored a point. Stabilizing fast, XLG leveraged Sage’s control on site A to even the score. EDG called a timeout to adjust tactics, and after some back-and-forth, EDG gained the upper hand in gunfights, winning four consecutive rounds to close the first half at 8-4.

In the second half, nobody and Jieni7 led EDG to win the pistol round. In round 16, nobody and Smoggy defended site A against XLG’s attack successfully. EDG then secured four straight rounds to reach match point. XLG’s triple utility combo forced all defenders off the site multiple times, allowing them to recover seven rounds. In round 24, XLG attacked site A but Weiss’s ultimate from EDG disarmed and eliminated two enemies. EDG trapped three XLG players in the treehouse, leaving XLG stuck between advancing or retreating. After a tough plant attempt on site B, XLG was eliminated, and EDG clinched the map with a 13-11 victory on Lianhua Ancient City.

Map 2: Salt Sea Mining Town

Defending team XLG: Viper, Kuro, Phantom, Weiss, Neon

Attacking team EDG: Viper, Yelu, Neon, Kuro, Phantom

In the first half, XLG won the pistol round, but EDG responded by taking site B in round 2, starting a comeback. EDG reached four points, while XLG recovered two in rounds 4 and 7 during rifle rounds. Round 8 saw a 2-for-2 exchange in mid; XLG’s aggressive defense was caught off guard by EDG’s successful site A push. In the post-plant, Smoggy stood firm and eliminated happywei despite the Viper’s toxic screen. EDG then went on a five-round winning streak to close the half at 9-3.

In the second half, XLG won the pistol round again but was quickly overturned by EDG’s retake of site B. EDG scored two more rounds consecutively. In round 16’s rifle battle, XLG executed a pincer attack on site A, wiping out four EDG players to claim the round. Round 17 featured Kangkang and Mingju securing the first kill in mid, with Jieni7 and Smoggy pressuring A short to trap and eliminate all XLG members, securing match point. Round 18 saw a 4-for-4 fight on site A, leaving a 1v1 clutch where Kangkang defeated coconut to seal the victory on map two, sending EDG into the losers' final.
