In the Asian Invitational BO3 between GAM and JDG, after two hard-fought games, JDG unexpectedly fell 0-2 to GAM, becoming yet another LPL team to lose to a Vietnamese opponent.
In the first game, GAM’s lineup was top Renekton, jungle Qiyana, mid Ryze, and bottom Aphelios with Rell; JDG’s composition featured top Quasanti, jungle Jarvan IV, mid Cassiopeia, and bot Kai'Sa with Alistar. During the laning phase, JDG aggressively targeted GAM’s mid Ryze, killing him three times in a row. Early on, JDG secured the first dragon, while GAM took the Rift Herald, with GAM leading economically by 1k gold.
In the mid game, there was a river skirmish where JDG’s mid and jungle ultimates were mistimed. Chasing Qiyana recklessly, GAM counterattacked and managed a 2-for-4 trade, taking down the Rift Herald afterward. At 28 minutes, JDG initiated Baron, but GAM arrived to contest. Scout’s Cassiopeia stopped GAM’s Ryze but was solo killed by him. In a 4v4 fight, GAM’s top Renekton was unstoppable; Peyz’s Kai'Sa was instantly killed by Qiyana. GAM turned the fight into a 1-for-4 exchange and secured the first Baron. At 38 minutes, JDG sneaked the second dragon, but GAM responded by initiating a team fight, killing Zhuo’s Alistar first and then executing a 2-for-4 trade. At 40 minutes, both teams fought over the dragon; although Xun’s Jarvan secured it, Peyz’s Kai'Sa was heavily damaged after diving into the backline, leading to GAM wiping JDG and winning the first game. GAM’s Aphelios dealt the highest damage in this match.
In the second game, JDG picked top Jax, jungle Wukong, mid Ahri, and bottom Ezreal with Renata Glasc; GAM chose top Sion, jungle Vi, mid Taliyah, and bot Lucian with Poppy. During the laning phase, Levi’s Vi snowballed aggressively, ganking everywhere, while JDG’s mid and jungle made multiple mistakes. JDG’s jungle-initiated fights resulted in a 2-for-4 disadvantage, and GAM secured two dragons early, gaining a 3k gold lead.
In the mid game at 17 minutes, JDG grouped to take down GAM’s mid outer turret. At 20 minutes, Peyz’s Ezreal got caught out of position and was killed; shortly after, Xun was also taken down, allowing GAM to claim the Rift Herald. At 24 minutes, during a dragon fight, Zhuo’s Renata was heavily damaged first, and Scout’s Ahri was knocked up by Poppy’s ultimate. GAM wiped JDG and took the dragon. At 26 minutes, GAM found an opportunity mid to instantly kill Peyz’s Ezreal, securing a 0-for-3 exchange and the first Baron. At 29 minutes, GAM claimed the Earth Dragon soul.
