The biggest meta trap in the S15 World Championship: 0% win rate after 9 appearances, even the world champion got crushed 1-6 when using it.

At the LOL World Championship, the Swiss stage is nearly halfway through. After three days of competition, it's clear that tank champions have the greatest impact this year, especially in BO1 matches. Teams without frontline heroes suffer greatly in mid-to-late game teamfights and skirmishes, making champions like Sion, Nautilus, and Alistar very strong right now.

Sion in the top lane has become somewhat overpowered; in BO1, if you pick him and your double carries perform well, victory is almost guaranteed. TES and BLG, who haven't advanced yet, should reconsider the priority of top lane tank champions. Additionally, there are some meta traps to avoid later on, such as the jungler Jarvan IV, who has consistently lowered his win rate from the play-in stage to the Swiss stage.

During the play-in stage when T1 faced IG, Oner picked Jarvan IV and ended with a 1-6 record. Even in the Swiss stage, many teams still prioritize Jarvan, but the result remains: 8 appearances with zero wins. Northwind went 0-6 on Jarvan, and Peanut went 0-5. This champion now feels like a meta trap—whoever picks him tends to lose.

In the T1 promotion match against KT, Hongmi saw the enemy pick Wukong and immediately locked in Jarvan IV, only to lose again without any surprise. As a popular champion, 9 appearances with 0% win rate is quite absurd. Most teams seem unaware that although Jarvan excels at initiating fights, he is highly dependent on team synergy and is very weak if picked blindly without proper composition.

This explains why Jarvan still has zero wins so far. The best Jarvan partner, Orianna, is almost always banned, leaving no team brave enough to pick her. Meanwhile, champions like Rumble, Galio, and Miss Fortune, who could combo well with Jarvan, are rarely chosen. As a result, Jarvan's initiations often fall flat, failing to deliver his intended impact. Teams really need to think carefully about this in upcoming matches.

Besides Jarvan, Kaisa and Neeko are also somewhat overhyped. Kaisa has appeared 7 times with a 1-6 record. Even JKL, who has the championship skin, couldn't lead his team to victory when playing her. This champion’s limitations have been exposed; even with a strong early game, it's difficult to carry in the late game. Top players like Ruler and Viper couldn't secure wins despite good starts on Kaisa.

When HLE faced AL, Viper’s Kaisa started 8-1 but had no room to output damage in teamfights. Similarly, when GEN played AL, Chidi started 5-0 but failed to deal damage in teamfights and was reverse swept by AL. Therefore, Kaisa's priority should be lowered for now. If picked, it’s better to save her for the last few games of a BO5 when strong AD carries are scarce. Kaisa, like Jarvan, relies heavily on team composition.

Neeko has appeared 8 times with a 3-5 record and an overall low win rate. Both AL and T1 lost when picking her. In LCK, only KT managed to win a game with Neeko, while GEN and HLE haven’t picked her in the Swiss stage. Perhaps GEN believes she isn’t that strong. Our region’s teams should consider whether to continue using her. Personally, if GEN doesn’t play her, maybe others shouldn’t either.

Conclusion:

Jarvan’s strength remains to be proven since most BO1 matches feature teams without strong combos. Kaisa seems genuinely weak; no matter how well she farms, she struggles to deal damage in teamfights. On the other hand, champions like Wukong and Sion should be prioritized more—they almost guarantee a win when picked nowadays.

So, do you think Jarvan is too weak or is it a problem with team compositions?
