VCT 2027 undergoes major format overhaul: All teams now have a chance to directly qualify for the World Championship!

On April 8th, VALORANT officially announced the brand-new competition plan for 2027.

The new two-year partnership cycle for VCT will officially commence in 2027.

Starting immediately, all teams from the four major international leagues, as well as all teams from the secondary leagues, will need to reapply.

Riot Games will review these applications; if a team fails to meet the criteria, even if it is from an international league, it will be removed.

The biggest change in the competition format is the conversion of the VCT league into a tournament system.

The four major international leagues: VCT CN, VCT EMEA, VCT Pacific, and VCT Americas, will all shift to a tournament format.

The regular league season is also transformed into "cup competitions"! Each region will host two cups annually, totaling eight cups!

Cup competitions replace the regular league season, culminating in a final weekend event and will be hosted across different cities.

All VALORANT teams will have the opportunity to participate in VCT's top-tier events.

Non-partnered teams will need to compete in the newly added open qualifiers, break through to the international cups, earn points in the cups, to strive for participation in Masters and Champions.

Even a casually assembled "five-player squad," if sufficiently skilled, can advance all the way to Masters and Champions, while also receiving incentive bonuses and revenue sharing from Riot Games.

Final summary:

Major VCT format overhaul in 2027!

The two-year partnered team applications are now open; partnered teams will, as before, receive team skins and revenue sharing.

Regional leagues are abolished, replaced by cup competitions! Cups will be held in cities across different regions (referencing this year's VCT CN VALORANT Tour).

Secondary leagues are abolished, replaced by new open qualifiers; any team has the chance to participate in VCT top-tier events—if they are skilled enough, they can advance to Masters and Champions!
