"Designer Reveals LOL's Urtahan Will Return" Goes Viral, LCK Gets Biggest Boost, KT Dominates the Region

Introduction: The S16 season competition has officially begun, and it is believed that most players have been following the recent matches. The competitions across various major regions are extremely intense, and the LCK matches in the past couple of days have become a focal point of discussion among many netizens. The overall performance of some traditional powerhouse teams has fluctuated significantly, including T1 and Gen.G, both experiencing issues to varying degrees. Conversely, the KT team, which received less attention, has emerged as a dark horse in the second stage. So far, they have achieved a five-match winning streak, aiming directly for the top spot in LCK. Meanwhile, game designers have hinted at a crucial adjustment: Urtahan appears to be returning. It seems they really can't stand seeing the LPL dominate, forcibly strengthening LCK.

Foreign Designer Reveals LOL's Urtahan Return

It is believed that most players are quite familiar with League of Legends. As an esports game, its development over more than a decade into its current state is truly remarkable. Due to fluctuations in game popularity, official adjustments in recent years have been numerous. The aim is to attract new players and retain veteran ones by altering the map, preventing the game from becoming monotonous. Last season, the official introduced a new epic jungle monster, Urtahan, which added some gameplay variety but also slowed down match tempo, making the overall matches less thrilling. Therefore, after this season started, the official reverted the map, acknowledging their misstep.

Clearly, after reverting to the older version, the match tempo in the LPL region became relatively smoother, with intense skirmishes throughout. The early 20-minute clashes were particularly exciting. In the global Pioneer tournament, the LPL region also shone brightly, successfully defeating multiple top-tier teams and clinching the championship. On the other hand, Gen.G and BFX were successively eliminated by the European region's G2 team. Recently, the overall match performance in LCK has fluctuated considerably, with stronger teams encountering consecutive issues. The exact reasons are unknown, but a revelation from a foreign game designer has sparked players' imaginations.

The designer stated that Urtahan might return at some point. There are issues with Urtahan that we want to address or mitigate, possibly revisiting its design phase to reconsider certain aspects. This news quickly stirred heated discussions among LPL region players. Everyone knows that whenever the World Championship approaches, the official makes significant version adjustments. Could it really be that they plan to revert the competition version to the S15 season at that time? For the LPL region, that would undoubtedly be a bolt from the blue, as in recent years, the LPL only failed to reach the finals in the S15 season, marking their worst performance.

Recently, LCK's overall match performance has indeed been surprising, especially last season's World Championship runner-up, KT team. Their performance in the first stage was average, but in the second stage, they have secured a five-match winning streak so far. No team can withstand their pressure; even if they win in an ungraceful manner, they still prevail. In the second stage, they successively defeated T1, Gen.G, BRO, NS, and DK, essentially facing all the strong teams in LCK, leaving only the currently low-ranked BFX team. Could this team really be aiming for an MSI spot?

Final Thoughts

If the official really brings back Urtahan before the World Championship, it would be quite disruptive. From the current overall match tempo, the LPL region is definitely smoother than LCK, with skirmishes occurring relatively earlier. LCK leans more towards strategy and steady development. If matches are prolonged and equipment is fully developed, LCK's team fights would undoubtedly be more outstanding.
