T1 reaffirms its status as a leading candidate for the LCK 2026 title by beating BNK FearX (BFX) 2-0 at LoL Park on the evening of May 30. The win guarantees the team at least second place in the group stage rankings and commemorates a significant milestone for jungler Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun, as he becomes only the fifth jungler in LCK history to achieve 3,500 assists.
The opening game saw an intense back-and-forth score chase between the two teams. From the very first minutes, BFX showed they were not intimidated by the stronger opponent. After a kill trade between Raptor's Wukong and Doran's Rumble, Taeyoon secured an additional takedown by defeating Keria in a 2v2 skirmish in the bottom lane.
However, Oner on Nocturne and Faker using Anivia quickly rotated down to assist, helping T1 regain control of the match. Continuous teamfights erupted across the map, and BFX repeatedly surprised fans with their ability to trade blows evenly against T1.
The turning point came when Clear executed a brilliant play with K'Sante, taking down Faker and allowing BFX to secure Baron. Nevertheless, T1 kept their composure. During a crucial dragon contest, Faker found the perfect angle to close in on the enemy formation. Taeyoon's Ezreal was eliminated instantly, enabling T1 to win the fight and even the dragon count at 3-3.
Shortly after, Faker continued to shine with Anivia, contributing to the takedowns of Ezreal, Wukong, and Neeko in a pivotal teamfight. T1 advanced straight into the opponent's base with the aim of ending the match. However, BFX's K'Sante and Ryze delayed long enough for their teammates to respawn.
As soon as BFX counterattacked and pushed into T1's side of the map, an unbelievable scenario unfolded. While the opponents focused all their efforts on T1's base, Faker unexpectedly executed a historic backdoor, destroying BFX's Nexus and securing a breath-taking victory for his team. The entire LoL Park crowd erupted at the genius moment from the "Immortal Demon King."
If the first game was a tense battle of wits, the second showcased T1's overwhelming strength. Although Raptor's Pantheon helped BFX secure many early kills, young talent Peyz became T1's star player. Using Mel, he recorded 8 kills just 13 minutes into the game and quickly became an unstoppable damage threat.
Meanwhile, Taeyoon had a forgettable match as his Caitlyn died five times very early on. The bottom lane advantage allowed T1 to easily secure the Rift Herald as well as accumulate the first two dragons.
In the next dragon fight, T1 perfectly utilized Sion's ultimate combined with the Herald's crowd control to wipe out BFX's lineup, putting the dragon soul within reach. Despite BFX's efforts to find a comeback opportunity, they were completely powerless against Mel's strength.
After securing Baron, T1 won another teamfight in the mid lane, claimed the Dragon Soul, and extended their gold lead to over 10,000. In the final teamfight, Peyz even scored a Quadra Kill, sealing a convincing 2-0 victory for T1.
Beyond the crucial victory, the match held special significance for Oner. The jungler, born in 2002, officially became the fifth jungler in LCK history to reach the milestone of 3,500 assists, further solidifying his status as one of the league's finest junglers today.
For BNK FearX, this loss not only meant falling to T1 but also officially ended their hopes of qualifying for the Road to MSI 2026. Meanwhile, T1 has secured at least a top-two finish in the group stage and is displaying impressive form ahead of the decisive phase of the season.
