The 2026 League of Legends World Championship is approaching its conclusion with only two BO5 series remaining. On the last game day, a Western showdown unfolded as G2 suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of LYON, ending their run in the semifinals. Having just knocked out TOP Esports and T1, G2 was widely considered a title contender, but then they were stunned by LYON. The LPL's "third seed" remains an enigma—capable of incredible highs but also abysmal lows.

G2's overall performance in this BO5 was far from their best. BrokenBlade, who had been dominating Doran in previous games, played decently only in the first match. In the remaining two, he was completely outclassed: his Yasuo lost to a Nasus in lane, and his Jayce failed to secure a significant advantage against Olaf. Still, blaming him for the loss wouldn't be fair, as the bot lane duo was in even worse form. The reason I mention him is that his earlier performances had been outstanding.

Both Caps and Hans Sama seemed to be competing for who could play worse. Caps held up okay in lane without collapsing too badly, but his roams were always a step behind, and his teamfight execution fell apart—he'd spin wildly before the enemy even engaged. Hans Sama was even worse; throughout this entire MSI, apart from the series against TOP Esports, he had almost no standout moments. In wins, he rode on his team's coattails; in losses, his lane became a liability.

Of course, the support and jungle positions weren't clean either. Yike was completely outclassed in pathing—either farming or wandering aimlessly. With no jungle pressure, the support also lost his way: soft supports couldn't protect teammates, and engage supports initiated chaotic fights. G2's crushing loss to Lyon was a collective failure. This makes you wonder: how bad must TOP Esports and T1 be to lose to a team that gets swept by a North American squad? Or does G2 only know how to beat teams with "T" in their names?

After G2's defeat, their opponents wasted no time in rubbing it in. Inspired, who had dominated Yike across three games, waved goodbye to the live audience as the match ended. In his post-game interview, he explained the gesture: "It's not aimed at the players, but I despise the arrogance of European fans. So the wave was directed at G2's organization and their supporters." Wow—saying that out loud shows genuine resentment.

Furthermore, Inspired openly stated on stage: "G2 only beat T1 because they were lucky. I already knew before the match that G2 would do nothing." He also shared a quote from Cristiano Ronaldo: "This is why Lyon signed me." That comment made G2 fans desperately wish it were true. By this point, you can probably guess why Inspired harbors such hatred toward G2.

During last year's winter transfer window, players like Aming, Busio, and Inspired all contacted G2, hoping to join the team. However, G2 decided to keep their existing roster, rejecting all of them. After being turned down, Inspired led his team to a clean sweep of G2, which is why he's been so vocal in his mockery. To be fair, apart from being a bit older (born in 2002), Inspired surpasses Yike in almost every aspect. G2 likely chose to stick with Yike due to his youth.

Before last winter's transfer period, Inspired had repeatedly expressed interest in joining G2, but the organization consistently preferred Yike over giving Inspired a chance. His frustration is understandable. However, in this Mid-Season Invitational, G2's loss to LYON wasn't primarily the jungler's fault. Carrying this bot lane duo with their current form would be a challenge even for Inspired—Caps and Hans Sama simply haven't performed like humans in any game.

After defeating G2, LYON will now face HLE. This dark horse team has a slim chance of beating Hanwha Life, especially if Kanavi goes on a rampage. However, the gap in raw skill between the two teams is still significant. Dhokla was able to dominate BrokenBlade, but when he faces Zeus, he'll likely get destroyed.
So, in your opinion, who was the worst performer on G2?
