LPL World Cup achieves three consecutive victories, Flandre goes on a rampage with 10 kills in a single match, crushing the Korean top laner

Hello everyone, this is the Global Game Hub.

Yesterday, the first day of the EWC Esports World Cup saw group stage matches on two stages simultaneously, with seven teams from China and Korea taking the stage. The three LPL teams performed exceptionally well, securing a clean sweep.

The most impressive victory was AL's win over DK in the group of death.

LPL three wins in a row, Flandre goes wild

Yesterday, BLG was the first LPL team to play, facing MKOI, a team that didn't qualify for MSI. The match was quite chaotic at times, with BLG players making many mistakes, but they still secured the win due to their superior teamfighting strength. It's worth noting that in the main stage match between T1 and the Vietnamese team, T1 also didn't look great but still won.

Today, BLG will face T1 in a BO3 to determine the qualifying spot.

The second team to play was AL. They were placed in Group A, the group of death, alongside G2 and DK. Their first opponent was DK. Given AL's underwhelming performance in the second stage playoffs, many didn't expect much from them. However, AL completely crushed DK.

In that game, DK's draft had issues. They let Vi through and picked Jayce themselves, while Flandre went for Shen. AL's team had strong crowd control chains. DK struggled in the laning phase—their bot lane got killed, Jayce was caught out, and then AL kept up the pressure through ganks and teamfights. Flandre's Shen was outstanding, finishing with a 10-1 scoreline, while the opposing Jayce went 1-8.

LYON eliminated in a flash, biggest upset of the event

DK's poor draft and bad form led to an easy victory for AL, with Flandre earning the MVP award.

The last team to play was JDG, facing a strong opponent in LYON. LYON's draft was also solid, with several counter picks, and their Jarvan + Bard combo was well-suited to target JDG's low-mobility Jayce and Orianna.

In the end, HongQ got a solo kill on the enemy Ziggs. LYON's Inspired, who performed well at MSI, seemed lost in the jungle, failing to execute the typical Jarvan flash-gank pattern, and the support-jungle synergy didn't work either. JDG, on the other hand, continuously picked off opponents, steadily expanded their lead, and even pulled off a clever Rift Herald trick—feigning an attack on the mid tower, then instantly taking the top tower instead.

JDG successfully defeated LYON and advanced. LYON's first loss to JDG was somewhat understandable, but then in the BO3 elimination round, they unexpectedly lost to LOS, a team that HLE had beaten in 19 minutes. LOS then swept LYON 2-0.

Considering LYON had pushed HLE to a deciding game at MSI, and given the suspicious nature of the match, viewers suspected match-fixing and called on Riot to investigate.

World Cup Day 2: China vs. Korea BO3 matches

After the first round, all three LPL teams face tough challenges today. BLG will once again meet T1. Both teams won their first matches despite poor form, and their rematch will significantly impact the knockout stage landscape.

From an LPL fan's perspective, we hope BLG can show their best form and achieve a double kill over T1. However, personally, BLG seems unstable at this point. Their mentality after losing MSI is a key concern, making the outcome of this match hard to predict.

AL will face G2, while JDG faces their biggest test against HLE.

In today's three matches, none are guaranteed wins for the LPL; in fact, some may even be disadvantageous. To secure two or more victories, the teams must go all out. BLG's key to winning is improving stability and establishing a clear tactical core. JDG and AL, having not participated in MSI, have a slight tactical advantage—they need to excel in draft to gain an edge, which can significantly boost their chances of winning.
