The Vietnamese cueist began in the winners’ bracket but lost 7-9 to Tobias Bongers (Germany). Refusing to give up, he quickly regained his form in the losers’ bracket, defeating Roberto Bartol (Croatia) 9-5 to secure a spot in the main round. This match occurred just hours ago, making Hoàng Sao one of the top 64 players in the competition.

The Qatar World Cup 10-Ball 2025 features 128 top players from over 40 countries, with a record total prize pool of $450,000 – the highest in the history of any 10-ball event. The champion will earn $100,000 (2.63 billion VND), the runner-up $40,000, while players reaching the Last 64 each receive a $2,500 prize.

The tournament is highlighted by the participation of many top names such as Fedor Gorst (USA, current WPA World 10-Ball champion), Shane Van Boening (USA), Jayson Shaw (Scotland), Carlo Biado (Philippines), Albin Ouschan (Austria), Joshua Filler (Germany), and Ko Ping Chung (Taiwan). However, Jayson Shaw was eliminated just before the Last 64 after losing 6-9 to Shane Van Boening despite leading 6-3. Fedor Gorst also exited the event after a close 8-9 defeat to Yannick Pongers.

With this result, Dương Quốc Hoàng continues to solidify his position in the global billiards community, having previously reached the Last 32 of the WPA World 10-Ball Championship and the Last 64 of the US Open Pool Championship in 2025. The Last 64 stage will be played in a single-elimination format, race to 11 (final race to 15). Matches will be streamed live on the Qatar Billiards Federation’s YouTube channel and Matchroom Pool.
