Sancho’s reason for rejecting Roma’s offer revealed! His agent demanded a €11 million commission, aiming to take a share of Manchester United’s transfer fee.

Manchester United had already agreed to Roma’s £20 million loan-to-buy proposal for Sancho, but the 25-year-old England international notified the club that he would not be joining them. Several Italian sources revealed that the reason was Sancho’s agent’s demand for a €11 million fee, which, when rejected, led to the transfer collapsing.

Reportedly, Sancho was willing to accept Roma’s offer of around €5 million net annual salary plus bonuses, but after his agent’s demands were not met, the deal fell through. United has now asked Sancho and his agent to quickly find a new solution—either compromise with Roma or secure a different buyer.

Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano explained Sancho’s situation: “Roma has been waiting for Sancho, hoping he’ll join, but financial and technical factors are equally crucial for him.”

Another Italian expert, Di Marzio, said Roma hasn’t given up entirely. Gasperini still hopes to convince the controversial English talent, and even wants new signing Leon Bailey from Aston Villa to help persuade him, as Bailey and Sancho are reportedly close friends from their Bundesliga days.

However, British outlet GIVEMESPORT reports that United suspects Sancho’s agent is scheming to claim part of the club’s transfer fee. Their plan is to delay until the final days of the summer window, forcing United into another loan deal without a purchase obligation. This way, the new club wouldn’t pay a transfer fee, giving Sancho’s agent a better chance at the commission he wants.

Manchester United is increasingly worried that Sancho will opt to leave as a free agent when his contract expires, rather than agree to a permanent move this summer, which would directly affect the club’s finances. After Sancho turned down Roma, United has been pressuring him to make a decision about his future. Still, there are concerns that even if Sancho stays and doesn’t play, he’ll continue to ignore interest from other clubs.

Amorim has made it clear that if Sancho remains at Old Trafford after the window closes, he won’t get any playing time. Sancho, however, seems unfazed, enjoying his £250,000 weekly salary at United. He doesn’t mind earning a high wage without training or playing, preferring to spend his time gaming off the pitch.

United will pay a heavy price for this situation. Not only will they miss out on a transfer fee, but they’ll also have to pay nearly £10 million in wages over the next year. Sancho’s weekly salary is £250,000, totaling £12.5 million annually. With United missing out on Champions League football and triggering a 25% wage reduction, the club still faces a £9.375 million payout!

As a result, United fears they may have no choice but to make major concessions, possibly agreeing to loan Sancho again and watch him leave for free as a free agent next year, which might be the least damaging option for the club. United is eager to find a solution in the coming days and does not want Sancho to stay and train with the U21s—they hope to offload him.

British media report that if Sancho is still at United after September 1, he’s prepared to take a six-month break and view the January transfer window as an opportunity to decide his long-term future. By then, his contract will be in its final six months, allowing him to negotiate freely with clubs outside England, unless United activates his one-year extension clause.
