The Vietnam U18 squad is set to take part in Asia’s leading youth competition - the Seoul EOU Cup 2025 held in South Korea.
According to the latest update from Asean Football, the Vietnam U18 team will join the Seoul EOU Cup 2025 friendly tournament, taking place in Seoul, South Korea from September 21 to 28. This annual event is organized by the Seoul Football Association in collaboration with the Korea Sports Agency and is regarded as one of the most prestigious platforms in Asia for young players.
Alongside Vietnam U18, seven other teams will participate, including: Johor Darul Ta’zim U18 (Malaysia), Buriram United U18 (Thailand), Zhejiang Professional U19 (China), the Seoul FA U18 select team, the K League U18 select team, Gangneung Jungang High School, and the Kanto University select team (Japan).
For Vietnam U18, this tournament serves as a crucial preparation step toward major goals in 2026, including the Southeast Asian U19 Championship and the 2027 AFC U20 qualifiers.
Currently, the Vietnam Football Federation has not announced the official U18 squad, but according to the Viettel Sports Club, four players — Nguyễn Hoàng Nam, Hoàng Văn Thái, Nguyễn Minh Kỳ, and Trần Hồng Kiên — have been called up for training from August 25 to September 29.
Sources indicate that the head coach of Vietnam U18 will be Mr. Yutaka Ikeuchi, a Japanese expert who previously served as technical advisor and supervisor for the Vietnam U17 team during the 2025 AFC U17 Championship.
Two years ago, Vietnam U18 participated in the Seoul EOU Cup 2023 under coach Hoàng Anh Tuấn. However, the team did not achieve the expected results, losing all three matches.
