Center-back Bùi Hoàng Việt Anh underwent 14 stitches after a strong impact during the opening game of the Asean Shopee Cup between CAHN and BG Pathum.
After the intense match between CAHN and BG Pathum United, defender Bùi Hoàng Việt Anh drew attention not only for his brave performance on the field but also due to a serious head injury. On his personal page, the 1999-born player shared an image showing his wound carefully bandaged, revealing that he needed 14 stitches.
The incident happened in the first half of the match. BG Pathum's striker Matheus accidentally kicked high, hitting Việt Anh’s head. The heavy collision caused the CAHN defender to collapse on the field in pain. Medical staff immediately provided first aid before escorting him off the pitch to allow a substitute. Afterwards, Việt Anh was taken directly to the hospital for a detailed examination.
The results showed that the injury on the player’s forehead was quite severe, requiring 14 stitches to treat. This relatively serious injury may force Việt Anh to miss the upcoming match between CAHN and Becamex TP.HCM in the 2nd round of the 2025 V.League, scheduled for August 24. This is considered a major loss for the Police team, who are aiming for a full 3 points after a less than ideal start.
Việt Anh’s absence is especially unfortunate as he is a key figure in CAHN’s defense. Since joining the team, the 1999-born player has consistently demonstrated solidity, fierce competitiveness, and extensive match experience. Given that CAHN faces strong opponents early in the season, his absence will undoubtedly pose a challenge for coach Polking in finding a suitable replacement.
In the match held in Thailand, CAHN started well by taking an early lead thanks to Alan’s brilliance. However, that advantage did not last until the end. In the second half, BG Pathum, powered by Chanathip’s outstanding play, staged an incredible comeback to win 2-1 over the Vietnamese side.
This comeback loss exposed several weaknesses of CAHN, especially in defense and finishing ability on the field.
