Mark Bellingham, father of midfielder Jobe Bellingham, was asked to avoid the Dortmund dressing room after exhibiting a lack of self-control.
Jobe Bellingham officially made his Bundesliga debut for Dortmund, starting in the match against St Pauli. However, the English midfielder struggled to make an impact and was substituted early in the second half.
Notably, Jobe’s parents, Mark and Denise, were both present in the stands, and according to Sky Sports Germany, they showed displeasure when their son was taken off after 45 minutes. They even waited in the tunnel after the game, where Mark, who also advises Jobe, approached sporting director and former player Sebastian Kehl to discuss matters.
According to another source from BILD, Mark Bellingham expressed his disappointment with coach Kovac’s decision and the team’s failure to secure a win.
Reports state that the former lower-league English player did not hesitate to voice his opinion directly. However, Kehl, who has represented Dortmund 362 times, stated after the match that from now on, players’ family members will not be allowed access to the club’s internal areas.
He said: "We are all disappointed with yesterday's result. But the club's operational areas are reserved exclusively for players, coaching staff, and officials—not family members or agents. This will not happen again. We have clarified this with everyone involved."
After playing a key role in Sunderland’s promotion to the Premier League, Jobe Bellingham followed his brother Jude Bellingham by joining Dortmund this summer for a fee of £27 million.
The 2005-born star performed quite impressively at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, appearing in four matches, scoring one goal and providing one assist before being suspended for the quarter-final against Real Madrid, the club where his brother Jude currently plays.
Although his Bundesliga debut was not smooth, Jobe is still considered an important player for Dortmund in upcoming seasons, aiming to restore their domestic status and achieve surprises in European competitions.
