Arsenal has received encouraging news about their player availability ahead of the Liverpool clash.
During Arsenal's 5-0 victory over Leeds in the second round of the Premier League, joy was slightly dampened as both Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard suffered injuries.
Saka left the pitch early in the second half, replaced by Leandro Trossard, while captain Odegaard had to leave before halftime, with young talent Ethan Nwaneri coming on.
However, according to reports from The Times, initial scans revealed that neither Saka nor Odegaard sustained serious injuries as initially feared. Both underwent imaging immediately afterward and their availability for the upcoming Liverpool showdown remains uncertain.
When asked about Saka and Odegaard’s condition after the Leeds win, coach Mikel Arteta commented: "I haven’t spoken to the doctor yet, but Bukayo having to leave the field indicates some seriousness.
He felt something while sprinting, which is never a good sign. We’ll have to wait for tomorrow’s results. However, Saka has had a similar injury before so he knows exactly what this feels like. For Martin, it’s a shoulder issue. These are two unfortunate developments today."
Before this win, Arsenal had already lost Kai Havertz, Ben White, Christian Norgaard, and Gabriel Jesus. Havertz played in the opening match against Man Utd last weekend but then suffered a knee injury during midweek training.
Despite the depleted squad, the "Gunners" showed their superior strength against newly promoted Leeds. The £64 million signing, Viktor Gyokeres, shone with a brace, playing a key role in the emphatic victory at Emirates Stadium.
Additionally, young talent Max Dowman made an impressive debut at just 15 years old in front of thousands at Emirates. Born in 2010, he is expected to add variety and cohesion to Arsenal’s attacking play under coach Mikel Arteta. Moreover, newcomer Eberechi Eze, a £68 million signing for the London club, is also anticipated to bring significant impact on the left wing.
