HAGL prodigy absent from Vietnam U18 squad, revealing the team contributing the most players

Up to 11 PVF players were summoned to the Vietnam U18 squad for the friendly competition in South Korea. On the other hand, HAGL did not provide any players.

On the afternoon of August 25, coach Yutaka Ikeuchi announced the list of 32 players for the Vietnam U18 team participating in the Seoul Eou Cup 2025 international friendly tournament.

The players included in this roster are all quality talents, some of whom recently took part with the Vietnam U17 team at the AFC U17 Championship. Notably, statistics show that PVF is the academy supplying the highest number of players with 11 names (accounting for one-third of the squad). Some key players include goalkeeper Pham Huy Hoang, defender Le Huy Viet Anh, midfielder Hoang Trong Duy Khang, and striker Nguyen Van Bach... Nguyen Le Phat is currently playing for Ninh Binh in the 2025/26 season.

The remaining players mostly come from youth teams of domestic clubs including The Cong Viettel (5), Ho Chi Minh City (5), Hanoi (4), SLNA (2), Ha Tinh, Nam Dinh, Ho Chi Minh City Sports Training Center, and Becamex Ho Chi Minh City each contributing one player.

Notably, the HAGL youth academy did not supply any players for this training camp, including the absence of striker Tran Gia Bao—who recently participated with the Vietnam U17 team at the AFC U17 Championship 2025. According to information from the Vietnam Football Federation, some players could not join this camp due to commitments with their clubs in the V-League. It is highly likely that Gia Bao is among them.

Today (August 25), the Vietnam U18 selection team officially gathered at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center to begin preparations for the Seoul Eou Cup 2025 international football tournament. According to the plan, the team will train in Hanoi until September 19 before traveling to South Korea to compete in the Seoul Eou Cup 2025 from September 21 to 28.
