Vietnam’s national team revealed its top lineup for September 2025, and even with some key absences, interim head coach Đinh Hồng Vinh managed to create a balanced mix of seasoned players and young talent.
Since head coach Kim Sang Sik is occupied leading the Vietnam U23 team in the 2026 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers at the same time, the coaching duties for the senior team have been assigned to interim head coach Đinh Hồng Vinh.
This training period sees Vietnam missing some important key players, especially in goalkeeping and attack. Nevertheless, coach Đinh Hồng Vinh still has many quality players to build the strongest squad, ensuring a balance between experience and youth.
Goalkeeper: Quang Văn Chuẩn
The absence of Filip Nguyễn and Đình Triệu opens a great opportunity for Quang Văn Chuẩn. With consistent form at Hanoi FC, the young goalkeeper is maturing and deserves to be the top choice in goal.
Center Backs: Thành Chung - Duy Mạnh - Cao Pendant Quang Vinh
The strong partnership between Thành Chung and Duy Mạnh at Hanoi FC will continue to be leveraged in the national team. Additionally, Cao Pendant Quang Vinh is a reliable figure whenever called upon, forming a solid defensive shield in front of the goal.
Fullbacks: Văn Vĩ - Tiến Anh
On the left flank, Văn Vĩ is in good form and familiar with the team’s tactical system. Meanwhile, Trương Tiến Anh is the best available option on the right side in the absence of Văn Thanh, promising agility and speed.
Central Midfielders: Ngọc Tân - Hoàng Đức
The return of Doãn Ngọc Tân after injury will strengthen the midfield’s solidity and fighting spirit. He will partner with Hoàng Đức, who is in excellent form and acts as the “brain” of the attacking play. Additionally, Quang Hải remains a strategic option, able to be introduced to enhance creativity and fluidity in combinations.
Attackers: Hai Long - Tiến Linh - Tuấn Hải
The absence of Công Phượng due to injury reduces the attack’s unpredictability, but Hai Long is emerging as a promising choice. His versatility, ability to shoot with both feet, and knack for surprises from the wing make him a “wild card.” Meanwhile, Tiến Linh remains the leading striker, and Tuấn Hải continues to play a key role on the left wing.
