Rabiot's mother: a tough and authoritative figure

Veronique Rabiot—mother and agent of Adrien—is renowned in football for her toughness and directness.

Journalist Dominique Severac (Le Parisien) said: "She (Veronique) takes part in every decision regarding Rabiot, often initiating them. Her influence is significant and all-encompassing."

Rabiot joined PSG in 2010. In 2012, he declined a Qatar training camp because the club refused to let his mother attend. While on loan at Toulouse in 2013, coach Alain Casanova disclosed that he had to reject Veronique’s request to observe all training sessions. A few years later, she stopped coach Laurent Blanc in a parking lot to voice her displeasure after her son was dropped from the first team.

Rabiot made his PSG first-team debut in the 2012/13 season under Ancelotti, participating in a 4-0 victory over Barcelona. But by 2019, their relationship with the club had deteriorated. Veronique stated in L'Équipe: "My son is a prisoner of PSG… Soon, it will be just dry bread, water, and a dungeon!"

At age 23, Rabiot was excluded from the squad by coach Tuchel amid rumors of his departure. His mother continued her harsh public criticisms.

Veronique’s influence also reached the national team. At EURO 2020, France was knocked out by Switzerland in the round of 16. After Mbappe missed the decisive penalty, Veronique angrily confronted Mbappe’s parents in the stands, calling Mbappe "arrogant." She also clashed with Pogba’s family, blaming him for losing possession that led to a goal. According to The Athletic, Veronique is known for this temperament both at PSG and Juventus.

Veronique’s principle is Adrien’s happiness and personal fulfillment—not just money or fame. She has affirmed that Adrien’s move from Juventus to Marseille in 2024 was entirely his choice, not orchestrated by her.

This viewpoint reflects Veronique’s overall strategy: protecting Adrien from external pressures and selecting the most suitable sporting environment for him. She emphasizes that if Adrien cared only about money, he would have easily renewed with PSG instead of leaving.

In an interview with Ouest-France, Veronique admitted: "I am authoritarian, yes. But not as the media portray. I have thick skin. I have nothing to prove."

A close source revealed: Adrien’s father suffered a severe stroke in 2007, resulting in "locked-in" syndrome (complete paralysis with no movement), so Veronique raised the children alone. "She is strong, taking her son to training even in minus 5-degree snow. Coming from a poor background but honest, still donating to the church. Veronique is not a 'diva.' She may be loud, but she is not a bad person. And she will protect her son at all costs."
