The Vietnamese-Bulgarian midfielder has been called up to the Vietnam U23 team.

Tran Thanh Trung – ranked among the top 3 Best Young Players in Bulgaria for the 2024/25 season and the most notable signing of Ninh Binh Club for the new season – has been named in the Vietnam U23 squad preparing for the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers.

Late afternoon on August 25, head coach Kim Sang-sik announced the Vietnam U23 team roster for the 2026 AFC U23 Asian Cup qualifiers. Among the 24 called-up players, the inclusion of Tran Thanh Trung, who recently ranked in the top 3 Best Young Players in Bulgaria for the 2024/25 season, stands out.

Tran Thanh Trung (Chung Nguyen Do), born in 2005 in Bulgaria to a Vietnamese family, currently holds dual citizenship of Vietnam and Bulgaria. He was developed in the CSKA Sofia academy, turned professional in 2023, and previously played for Slavia Sofia’s first team in Bulgaria’s top league before returning to join Ninh Binh Club in the 2025/26 V.League 1 season.
