Wearing the Vietnam jersey, Chung Nguyen Do sends greetings to European football

After being officially confirmed for the Vietnam U23 national team, Chung Nguyen Do posted a message expressing gratitude and bidding farewell to Bulgaria, the country where this young star grew up.

Recently, the official fanpage of Ninh Binh Club confirmed that Vietnamese overseas midfielder Chung Nguyen Do has been called up to the Vietnam U23 team to participate in the 2025 AFC U23 Championship qualifiers. This marks a significant milestone in the career of the player born in 2005, who previously spent many years representing Bulgaria’s youth national teams.

On his personal Instagram, Chung Nguyen Do shared an emotional post to say goodbye to Bulgarian football. Accompanied by photos of him playing for Bulgaria’s U19 and U21 teams, the midfielder wrote: "I close a chapter full of achievements, friendships, and unforgettable moments. Wearing Bulgaria’s colors was a great honor and pride. Thank you for the support, the memories, and everything."

Chung Nguyen Do’s choice to represent Vietnam U23 brings high hopes to local football fans. Born and raised in Bulgaria, he developed through the youth system of Slavia Sofia, one of the most historic clubs in Bulgaria’s top league. With his intelligent play, solid technique, and precise passing, the 20-year-old is expected to boost creativity in Vietnam U23’s midfield under coach Kim Sang-sik.

Previously, FIFA approved Chung Nguyen Do’s sports nationality switch, making him eligible to play for Vietnam’s national teams at all levels.
