Shining brilliantly against CAHN, Chanathip receives recognition from the Thai national team

Chanathip Songkrasin has been called back to the Thai national squad after his outstanding displays recently, particularly in the match against CAHN.

Recently, Head coach Masatada Ishii of the Thailand national team announced the 23-player roster for the 51st King’s Cup.

One of the most notable points is the absence of two legends, Teerasil Dangda and Theerathon Bunmathan, despite their strong performances at club level. Meanwhile, Chanathip Songkrasin, the team's key playmaker, has returned to lead the gameplay. He recently shone brightly in the victory over CAHN at the Shopee Cup. Additionally, the Thai squad includes all their overseas-based players, such as Nicholas Mikkelson (Bundesliga 2, Germany), along with Supachai Sarachat and Pramet Ajwilai, both currently playing in Japan's J-League 2.

Regarding the omission of Theerathon Bunmathan from the squad, Coach Ishii explained:

“In Theerathon Bunmathan's case, the club informed us that he is not yet physically ready. We communicated with all clubs, and if any player is not fit enough, they will not be called up. As for Theerathon, the door remains wide open. He still has a full chance to participate in the Asian Cup qualifiers, depending on his form and fitness.”

King's Cup 2025 will feature four national teams: hostThailand, Iraq, Hong Kong, and Fiji. The tournament will take place from September 4 to September 7 in Kanchanaburi. According to the draw, Iraq will face Hong Kong, and host Thailand will play against Fiji in the two semifinal matches.
