MU fans fiercely react to coach Amorim after losing to a fourth-tier team

Manchester United supporters have united in demanding the dismissal of coach Ruben Amorim following a humiliating defeat in the English League Cup.

Charles Vernam and Tyrell Warren scored in the first half, before new signing Bryan Mbeumo reduced the deficit for Manchester United in the 75th minute. Defender Harry Maguire shone with a late equalizer, sending the match into a nerve-wracking penalty shootout. However, tragedy struck when Matheus Cunha and Mbeumo both missed their penalties, causing the "Red Devils" to fall to Grimsby Town after an intense and prolonged shootout.

This defeat further extends United's disappointing start to the new season, as they have yet to win after two Premier League rounds, drawing with Fulham and losing to Arsenal.

While the team performed poorly, a wave of criticism against coach Ruben Amorim erupted fiercely on social media. One angry fan wrote: “Lost to Grimsby Town? I hope the dismissal letter for Amorim is already prepared.”

Another declared: “I would still fire Amorim, just like Chelsea did – be decisive.”

Another fan expressed frustration: “Fire Amorim tonight. Not after five matches, not in three weeks. Right now.”

An overzealous supporter added: “Everyone knows Amorim will be sacked, so why delay? He’s powerless, and that’s reason enough to lose his job. If this is truly a big club, have ambition and fire him; even an interim coach would be better than the current situation. This is rock bottom!”

Another bluntly stated: “I’ve mentally given up on MU. This score doesn’t affect me anymore. Fire Amorim immediately.”

However, the prospect of Amorim being dismissed immediately is unlikely. Manchester United’s management paid as much as £9.2 million to bring him from Sporting Lisbon, signing him to a contract running until 2027. Moreover, the club spent over £200 million in the summer transfer window to rebuild the attack as per the Portuguese coach’s vision.

Nevertheless, on-field results have yet to improve, with a narrow loss to Arsenal in the opener followed by a draw against Fulham. Manchester United must aim for their first Premier League win this weekend when hosting newcomers Burnley at Old Trafford.
