Thai Son Nam and Thai Son Bac will not meet in the group stage of the 2025 National U20 Futsal Championship.
On the afternoon of August 28th, at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the draw ceremony for group allocation and match scheduling of the 2025 National U20 Futsal Championship took place. This is the third year the futsal tournament for the U20 age group has been held, attracting participation from 10 teams, an increase of 2 teams compared to last season, including: An Phu, Khanh Hanh Tay Ninh, Nha Trang, Sahako, Saigon Eminence, Saigon Titans, Tan Hiep Hung Ho Chi Minh City, Thai Son Bac, Thai Son Nam Ho Chi Minh City, and Xa – Ho Chi Minh City.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Minh Chau – Deputy General Secretary of the VFF and Head of the Organizing Committee – emphasized the significance of the National U20 Futsal Championship in the long-term development strategy of Vietnamese futsal. The tournament not only provides an opportunity for clubs to invest thoroughly in youth training but also opens a path for young futsal talents to train, prove themselves, and aim to become professional futsal players, contributing to building a successor force for the national team.
According to the draw results, the 10 teams were divided into two groups of five teams each. Group A includes Thai Son Nam Ho Chi Minh City, Xa – Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon Titans, Sahako, and Khanh Hanh Tay Ninh. Meanwhile, in Group B, the defending champion Thai Son Bac will compete against Saigon Eminence, An Phu, Tan Hiep Hung Ho Chi Minh City, and Nha Trang.
Teams will compete in a single round-robin format within each group to earn ranking points. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semifinals. The winners of the semifinals will proceed to the final to compete for the championship, while the losing teams will play in the third-place match.
The tournament will take place from September 7th to 19th, 2025, at the Chanh Hung Ward Futsal Club Arena (Ho Chi Minh City). Thai Son Bac is the reigning champion after a narrow 3-2 victory over Saigon Titans in the 2024 final.
