Senne Lammens: 'Joining MU is a childhood dream'

Young goalkeeper Senne Lammens officially joined Manchester United on the final day of the transfer period. The 23-year-old talent sets his sights on bringing the Red Devils back to the pinnacle of European football.

Born and raised in Belgium, Lammens arrived at Old Trafford from Royal Antwerp, despite interest from many other top clubs. According to Sporting Director Jason Wilcox, United faced significant competition to secure the goalkeeper's signature. However, for Lammens, once he heard Old Trafford wanted to sign him, there was no hesitation.

“This is the dream destination for me,” Lammens expressed in his first interview on MUTV.

“When I was just 5 years old, Manchester United was at the peak of world football. I still vividly remember the team winning the Champions League and Premier League titles. Now, I want to help the club return to that status, compete for trophies, and play in the Champions League once again.”

Not only convinced by the club’s history and reputation, Lammens was also overwhelmed by the unique atmosphere at Old Trafford. Last Tuesday morning, he set foot for the first time at the “Theatre of Dreams” — a place that has witnessed countless great moments over many decades.

“A big part of why I chose Man Utd is this stadium. You can truly feel the history and everything that has happened here. I was excited the moment I stepped onto the pitch, thinking about the legends who played here, especially the goalkeepers,” Lammens shared.

The Belgian newcomer also admitted that Man Utd’s appeal is unlike any other club: “At Antwerp, I talked with players who have played in England. Just mentioning Manchester United instantly changed their expressions. This club has a special charm and aura. Today, being here in person, I realize it’s on another level. It’s incredible!”

Additionally, Lammens was impressed by the passion from the Red Devils’ fans. As soon as the transfer news broke, he received numerous congratulatory messages and attention from both Belgium and England: “United fans are truly passionate. In a short time, I have felt the immense love for the club,” he shared.

At 23 years old, Senne Lammens is seen as an investment for Man Utd’s future. With a strong desire to reach the top alongside England’s most storied club, the Belgian goalkeeper promises to bring fresh energy to the Old Trafford goal.
