Manchester United’s head coach, Ruben Amorim, is reportedly planning to take the players on a series of overseas training camps combined with team-building exercises, making use of the free time in the club’s schedule.
This decision came after MU was unexpectedly knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Grimsby Town, a League Two team, last week.
According to the current schedule, MU only faces a single midweek game before Christmas, which is the home match against West Ham on December 3rd. This light fixture list leaves many gaps, with up to eight days between Premier League matches. The The Sun reports that the club is seeking to make good use of this extra preparation time, and Amorim is considering organizing short overseas training camps.
Coach Amorim believes that training trips to destinations such as Portugal’s Algarve or the Middle East will strengthen team spirit and offer a change of scenery compared to the familiar Carrington training center. Previously, he emphasized the benefits of the summer tour in the USA, where players developed bonds off the field.
Coach Ruben Amorim is planning for MU to undertake overseas training camps.
To uphold discipline and ensure proper conduct, a group of players including Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martínez, Diogo Dalot, Tom Heaton, and Noussair Mazraoui have been tasked with supervising the team. This group also encourages players to engage with fans on matchdays.
Although MU’s leadership supports the idea of training camps, the proposal to conduct similar trips during FIFA international breaks was rejected because too many players would be absent due to national team duties.
This season, MU has had a slow start with one win, one draw, and one loss in their first three Premier League matches. After the 3-2 victory over Burnley, Coach Amorim expressed optimism about the upcoming international break: “This period will be beneficial because we have two weeks to prepare. Imagine two weeks filled with opportunities. We will face Fulham and Arsenal, and we will fight until the very end. Not winning will be tough for the team, so this period is crucial.”
With plans to hold overseas training camps, Amorim hopes not only to enhance playing performance but also to build a more united team, ready for the challenges ahead in the Premier League and other competitions.
