Xuan Son aims to join the Vietnam national team at the 2030 World Cup.

Xuan Son expressed moving reflections in a Brazilian publication regarding the patriotism and solidarity among Vietnamese citizens.

During his return to Brazil for injury treatment, naturalized forward Nguyen Xuan Son talked about his journey of living, working, and becoming a Vietnamese citizen.

In an interview with ESPN Brazil, the player born in 1997 stated:"It is a very united country. When I speak of patriotism, I mean the solidarity among people. Everything you do for Vietnam, for the Vietnamese people, they welcome you warmly," Xuan Son shared.

Since arriving in Vietnam in 2019, Xuan Son has played for several clubs such as Nam Dinh, Binh Dinh, and Da Nang, gaining experiences in various regions across the S-shaped country. During this time, he learned the language, adapted to the cuisine, and embraced a new culture. Currently in Nam Dinh, Xuan Son feels "the weight of being more than just a player," ESPN reported."Sometimes I feel like I was born here," Xuan Son confessed.

After successfully naturalizing on October 15, 2024, Xuan Son was called up by coach Kim Sang Sik to participate in the 2024 ASEAN Cup (also known as AFF Cup 2024). There, the Nam Dinh Steel striker scored 7 goals in just 5 matches before suffering an injury at the 32nd minute of the second leg final in Thailand, greatly contributing to Vietnam's championship. He also earned the titles of "Top Scorer" and "Best Player" of the tournament."I celebrated the championship in the hospital. I watched the match with my wife, hoping it would end soon and that we would become champions,"Xuan Son recalled.

In March 2025, at the 19th Dedication Awards ceremony, Xuan Son was honored as the "Sports Face of the Year." Speaking about this honor, the 1997-born player said:

"This recognition means nothing more than all I have contributed to the country and Vietnamese football. They show their appreciation every day when I go to malls or supermarkets. They always thank me, saying 'thank you for everything you have done for our country.' This makes me very happy."

Xuan Son has returned to training with Nam Dinh, carrying a dream never before seen in Vietnamese football history: leading the national team to qualify for the World Cup for the first time. He admitted: "Our biggest goal is to qualify for the World Cup in 2030."

Agreeing to extend his contract until 2031 shows that this ambition is not just a fleeting promise but a long-term journey. Along this new path, this shared aspiration has connected him with millions of fans who are proud of their resilient and united traditions, now placing their full trust in a striker with a heart dedicated to Vietnam.
