A decisive win against Ho Chi Minh City II allowed Ho Chi Minh City I to claim first place following round one of the 2025 Women’s National Championship.
The latest match of round one featured the city derby between Ho Chi Minh City I and Ho Chi Minh City II. The reigning champions fielded many substitutes but still controlled the game comfortably. However, it took until midway through the first half for Thuy Trang and her teammates to score.
In the 27th minute, Ngo Thi Hong Nhung opened the scoring with two close-range shots, following a sharp cross from Thuy Linh. Fifteen minutes later, Nguyen Thi Kim Yen impressed with a remarkable long-range strike from outside the box. At the 43rd minute, Thu Thao easily tapped in to extend Ho Chi Minh City I’s lead to three goals. Before halftime, Cu Thi Huynh Nhu increased the score to 4-0, assisted by Tran Thi Thuy Trang.
Early in the second half, Tran Nguyen Bao Chau added her name to the scoresheet with a well-executed shot. At the 73rd minute, Hong Nhung headed the ball, which deflected off an opposing defender, making it 6-0. In the final moments, Ho Chi Minh City I scored once more to seal a 7-0 victory over Ho Chi Minh City II.
